Default Realistic tonnage in Commander...

Does realistic ship tonnage in commander also effect the damage done by torps?

I had the strangest (but probably the most realistic) patrol last night with this feature on.

Came across a passenger cargo (yeah the bane of GWX) usually I dont even bother with them... but not this time, it needed 3 torps before she sunk, and yes I waited for hours.

My next target, a small merchant... it needed two eels, again waited hours.

The next two targets were both empire's, and both need 3 torps. The 3rd one in both cases being fired about 6 hours after the first, the ships had stopped, were listing badly but wouldnt sink unless I gave her the coup de grace.

On my way home I came across an ore carrier, and these usually go down fast with one eel to the bow area, well I had two left so I fired a salvo (did manual this time), one missed, one hit right where it counts.

8 hours later the darn thing is still steaming along at 12knots and doesnt appear to have taken on any water at all, even though the whole front half was blazing away.

It seemed like a totally different game, ships just would not sink, sometimes they didnt even apear to be taking on water, not to mention the speed some of these ships were moving at, before and after I hit them. I came across one small merchant (used my deck gun) that was doing 14+ knots?

What happened, Ive never had this happen so consistantly and I was, for the most part hitting these ships where I always do with great results?

It was very strange... sorry for the long post but I had to tell the story.. did BDU give half strength torpedoes?

No, it just varies the tonnage reported of each ship sunk within a class by a small margin.

I've never seen a small merchant do 14+ knots. Besides GWX, what other mods are you using?

No other mods except for thomsons sound pack.

You know, I cant be certian now exactly what ship it was, but it was small, under 4000GRT, and yes I was also surpised to see it going that fast. It wasnt just that ship though, nearly all of them seemed to be going alot faster then normal, and they all needed extra shots. IE: Ive never once hit an ore carrier and not seen it take on any water... but this one didnt slow down, didnt get lower in the water despite a perfect shot, not to mention the whole front of the ship was burning? I ahd to let it go... that was my last torp and it was too rough for the deck gun...

It was an odd patrol.

Anyway, I did another patrol last night, everything seems back to normal. (if you can call sinking 4 - 10K tankers normal)... well over half the convoy was a tanker, and a big one at that! I just used two torps on every tanker though, I normaly do with the big ones. Better to sink them then for sure then not.

Do you think I would get a promotion or medal though... no....

Im beginning to think my boat is a little cursed... U-95... IRL she was sunk by a dutch sub...

No promotion or medal after a 40k patrol? Someone at Bdu doesn't like you.

Actually it was 48K total, 4 tankers and one cargo...

But yeah nothing... athough I already have iron cross first and second class, u boat badge and front clasp in 4 patrols now...

Not sure what my rank is though.

It must have been that incident at the night club before my last patrol...
