Help!!! - Final Attempt to Fix Current Install

Hi all,

I am having a lot of problems with game stability - corrupt game saves, sound problems and crashes. I believe the problem is sound related - at some point in a mission/career the background sound (sub interior if below decks, or weather if on the bridge) will continue playing stuck in a loop if the game is paused. It even plays on the save game menu. I don't use SH3 Commander or the mod enabler. I don't use any super mod, and have made a number of small mods over the years, however, since they have worked for some time, I can eliminate most as a cause (I think). Recent changes were to the sound .dll (I went back to the old one), and the campaign files via the mission editor. In the latter case, the files passed the validation (except for some units too close together, but it has always been that way). Finally, here's the error message I get from windows (sometimes) prior to it shutting down:

Can anyone figure out what is wrong, and what I might do to fix? I really don't want to have to re-install if I can avoid it, and have to start all over again. But, since the game is basically unusable as it is, this is my final plea for a solution before I dump it and start over. I know many of you have a lot more knowledge about what makes Sh3 tick than I do, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
