Default Video games breaking out big

Anyone else notice the huge influx of TV advertisements for video games? Gears of War, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Mirror Edge and others I noticed, on heavy rotation during NFL football games, and the Military Channel. Very encouraging, the console game biz must be doing all right.

Gaming business, as a whole, has been doing well for a few years.

It puts the movie studios to shame these days.

A game having a TV AD increases it's likelyhood of being crap by 223.5%.

FarCry 2 & Fallout 3 are pretty heavily advertised here in Finland. I see alot of ads of telly of the two games. Usually, there's just some kids games & new NHL from EA.

Video games are the new rock and roll. I no longer get the thrill I used to about a particular movie or cd that's coming out but when a new game that everyone's dying to play comes out I'm like a kid in the 60's picking up a new Beatles or Stones record. And this coming from an actor and musician by trade! All my fellow actors are the most giddy about work they get doing voiceovers for video games. Why? it's cool, collaborative and exciting. In a few years it'll sink into banality like Hollywood has but for now, it's a blast.

That's because it is 98% console, 2% PC, sadly. Still can be quite fun - but crippled by consolitis.

I was just going to post on this. Nice to see Ubi has a good ad budget. Waiting for SH5 ads...

Personally I can't seem to care about "lol nerd self-identification" from little more than increased levels of obnoxious advertising. Wow soooo out there right? Games must be the new media because they got a superbowl commercial.

PARTY games are popular. Guitar Hero, Halo, stuff like that. The kind of games WE like, such as Distant Guns and Silent hunter, good luck ever seeing THEM get so much as placard on Best Buy's front door.
