Default Games coming soon(ish)

I had a look at play.com`s "soon available"-list, and my oh my is there lots of goodies on the way.

My must-have`s:

1. Empire Total War (not really soon, but thats why I put -ish in the title)
2. T34 vs Tiger and Steel Fury: Kharkov 1942. Tank sims, of all things. Gimme, gimme.
3. Men of War (supposed to be the REAL sequal to Soldiers: Heroes of WW2, unlike the slightly irritating Faces of War)
4. Armed Assault 2
5. A Vampire Story (adventure)

I have preordered Empire: Total War, and will probably do the same to the rest on the list. FarCry2 and a few other games are on hold pending reviews and/or demos. I think Crysis is rather bad, but have high hopes for Farcry 2. No aliens!

Am I the only one not expecting much from Empire total war?

I mean naval combat is nice and stuff but Looking at M2:TW compared to RTW (Though I am biased because of Europa barbarorum) It just seems like CA is going down the gutter.

The difference being that Empire is made by the same team that made Rome, not the team that made Medieval 2. I also think its promising that the AI-modder Lusted has been employed by CA.

Supremacy at Sea is due out very soon now (no really!), and I've been waiting for a (non-Grigsby) strategic/operational WW2 naval sim for literally forever. Build your own ships, clean interface, few reality-altering abstractions...a must buy for me.

I don't expect this soonish ..

My tips at coming games, mostly lesser known

Here is a list of games that I look forward to. I don't know how "soonish" they are, and they are all developed by small teams. But they all have nice graphics, though I went indy I still need esthetics:

Ground branch (tactical strategy): http://www.blackfootstudios.com/projectgb.htm

Unnamed sequel to Take Command 2nd Manassas scheduled 2009: http://www.norbsoftware.com/Portal/index.php

East India Company (TW inspired historic strategy game): http://www.eic-game.com/

Age of Decadence (fallout inspired turnbased rpg): http://www.irontowerstudio.com

Over Flanders Fields Phase 3. ultra realistic WWI air combat, payware mod for CFS3: http://www.overflandersfields.com/album/index.html

Lock and Load Heroes of Stalingrad, turn based computer boardgame: http://www.locknloadgame.com/Section...&SCAT=74&ID=68

Battle for the Bulge, Conquest of the Agean successor: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tt.asp?forumid=414

If you want something now, and you have missed out on these games, I really recommend the following:

Take Command 2nd Manassas warning: it will be hard to return to TW after that
Ageods American Civil War best grand strategy game ever
Ageods Wars in America similar to AACW, but easier to learn
Battle of Britain 2 (Wings of Victory), with current BDG updates it's the best SP WWII flight sim available

No, you're not.

I think the campaign will be nice, but the tactical battles look gruesome. It will probably be the same like all TW games, since Shogun Total War nothing was improved with respect to the battles.

I think we all know what happened the LAST time CA released a Total War game. It was a beta. It took like 4 patches just to get Medieval 2 working. I hear that's good business practice.

But hey, CA has never hidden how much they despise their own fans.

Maybe one day, i'll care about Armed Assault 2. Until i'm sure Bohemia is actually putting effort into the game this time around, it's just ArmA1 with prettier trees.
