Default The Faces of GWX - A Tribute

Due to increasing real life obligations, I am sadly unable to spend much time here to interact at all lately. Infact I had promised the downloadable video you can find below, months ago.

After all the time I've spent with the guys (and gal) on the team, I wanted to pay them back more than I could by simply saying "thanks."

Without the people on the Grey Wolves Mod Team, there would be no TGW and no GWX.

I've had the honor and priveledge of meeting and becoming friends with some of the most wonderful people I've ever known. Collectively, we've shared a very real sense of being a "crew" and have worked very hard and very long to reach a common goal, often at great personal expense.

In real life terms, the skills these good people rought to bear on the GWX project, would be astronomically expensive. Instead, they gave of their time and energy freely, often at the expense of time with friends, family, health, and even occasionally placed real life employment at risk.

For those who remain unaware, the GWX Project has moved on to the SH4 platform, and beginning tomorrow... August 12th, full organized development begins on "GWX4" which will eventually culminate in building the entire U-boat war into the SH4 platform as we did with GWX for SH3. The GWX Project leadership has been
transferred to new management under Privateer, with the senior-most Grey Wolves Mod Team as his officers.

Furthermore, for the first time ever The Grey Wolves Mod Team owns its own web domain. The old website has come down. However, you can find us at www.thegreywolves.com

Unlike previous builds where regular public developmental progress reports/updates were released on a semi-regular basis, the team intends to run silent until shortly before release of GWX4. However, I can assure you, that the work completed thus far is simply stunning!

I hope you will give them the same support you have always given to the Grey Wolves Project.

The following video is my tribute to the GWX Mod Team and features a few of those who built her. It is certainly not a complete record of all who were involved, but I hope it will stand for all who were.

None of us are the monsters that a noisy few have made us out to be.

Godspeed to all of you out there.

Sincerely,

KL

Best of luck in your RL commitments, hope all goes smoothly, many thanks again for your part as team leader in GW through GWX2, an often thankless job that you gave your best, and unfortunately often abused, if only people would stop and think of your dedication to the job that spanned years purely as a community service, certainly wasn't the pay!! I for one am very gratefull, SHIII & GWX is more than a game to me, it's a part of my life. Hope to see you on the forum here from time to time.
Cheers,
Reece.
PS. Thanks to the entire GW team. Downloading the file now, will take awhile!

Edit: Watched the video, kinda sad, was good to see some faces behind the names!

Well said. I cant pay enough thanks to the entire team of GWX developers and testers etc.

I remember being excited some years ago that SH3 was "coming soon" i would peak my head in and look at the dev diary and videos etc on the ubi site... but i never joined anything until i came to subsim.

If you had told me way back then about all of this subsim experience i would have and the whole GWX mod - i would have probably laughed in your face.

thanks for a helluva mod guys.

Now im off to view this video!

Is there time to edit the video before the release....I want to put my party frock on :p

Well, I guess not

It sure was one hell of a ride.....a very enjoyable and informative one at that.

My own personal thanks and respect to everyone on the team....the memories will take a long time to fade, if they ever do.

We now move on to the fresh challenge.....the boat is provisioned, crew are assembled and ready for the next patrol.

I wish to thank you and the whole GWX team for the effort and dedication you've put into the project.

I certainly wouldn't be playing SHIII any more if it wasn't for your mod.

Take some time to enjoy the fruits of your labors.

I wish I could watch the video but, my windows media player won't play it.

But that won't stop me from being the BIGGEST fan of GWX 2.1.

GWX 2.1 Now that's Subsimmin

Simply a great acheivement.

all your hard work and dedication will never go unnapreciated!!!

i'l never forget... that all of you offered help and advice above and beyond the release of your expansion.

I still stick by my assertion that gwx made a good -but-short lived game...into a sim i cant put down since 2005.

thinking of buying sh4....just to see what you guys do.
