Default Electric cars, and now electric motorcycles?

http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2008/1...r-great-e.html

Hmm... Probably gets more mileage than a car I would guess.

Well, it's not bad for one of the first, but there is a long way to go.

This is not some replacement for a Harley. Electric bikes that can go highway speeds are highly tuned works of engineering.

I don't doubt the engineering, or the good intentions. But I would not be looking to buy one of these anytime soon. There's more than aesthetics behind my preference for the "VROOM" -- Car drivers often do not see us coming, but sometimes they can hear us -- that can be the difference between life & death. The electro-bike would be nearly silent! I would sooner get an electric car, for the sake of better protection.

If needed put a sound system on it to make the sound.

I can see a use for it: a vehicle for covert-ops troops. Silent travel.

The Next bike for Australian Post! They already have push bikes with electric motors to assist ridders as they travel on their rounds.

Where I live you can't drive a combustion engine vehicle.

Only emergency vehicles and a few lg trucks to haul lg goods from dock.

Electric is the law here.
