Hello maties!
I'm using GWX (the new version) and I want to edit the cfg files to bring back the following : Map updates: original red/blue/green contacts for ships and airplanes Sonar/radar: direction lines for contacts visible U-mark: the orange spot on the water while sub is underwater Water: color is blue instead of black and more transparent Lastly, is there some website/location that has a detailed explanation about the various cfg files of the game, what entries they contain, and how to modify them? Thanks! Oren |

I don't understand, what do you mean by "change the graphic"?
Do I edit this tga file? Oh, and one more (maybe stupid) question: does changing the water clarity/murkiness in external cam changes ships/planes ability to see me underwater? |

Water transparency can be changed using SH3 Commander but I haven't yet played around with it.

I did set water visibility with SH3 commander to max, and it's still quite dark. I think it's because of the water color that's changed in GWX, so I need a way to change that manually, if possible. Also, my question about visibility to planes/ships...?

Actually, ships and planes cannot see underwater at all in SHIII, so I wouldn't worry about it. The only detection method underwater is by sound, and it's independent of the water graphics.

hello orengreen,
as i was reading your posts i have the feeling that you are missing basic things at editing files.so i have to tell you 2 things: 1.you have to do a lot of reading-searching at the threads that involved with editing 2.remember that the things are not so easy ,for exaple if you edit a .cfg file maybe you will create a problem to one other subject of the game that you never imagined. for start i will say theese, you can edit the .cfg files with the notepad (they are the easiest files but you have to know exactly what you are doing) and for the u-mark (as dietrich told you)you have to find the UMark.tga file (see at venarote's thread) and place it at the point that dietrich told you (i assumed that only gwx mod are running..correct?) for all other editings leave them for the future (you will understand then) bye |

All of the above things are not in .cfg files as far as I know.
I don't remember off the top of my head, but the contact lines and units are .tga files in the data/menu/gui folder which have been replaced with files which remove contact colours and make the bearing lines invisible. You would have to find which files they are and replace them with original SH3 .tgas. The UMark.tga is in the data/misc folder. Simply replace it with the original SH3 file. The water colours are in data/env/EnvColors_Atl.dat. You would need to use a data editor such as skwasjer's s3d. That could get a little bit complicated. |
