Removing screen labels...

Is there a way to remove the screen "labels" that appear for a few seconds when you switch stations or views. I find the labels somewhat irritating & would like to get rid of them.

Thank you...

I'm pretty sure that I saw a thread months ago regarding a fix for this but I can't seem to find it now.

The screen or station titles don't show in GWX, do they? At least, I was just playing and they don't show (and I'm pretty sure I didn't do any fix to delete them).

Anyway, here's what I have from a post quite some time ago:

Quote
Open your menu_1024_768.ini search for the block [G3F I4] then change the Pos= line as below.
[G3F I4]
Name=Title
Type=1026;Menu group
ItemID=0x3F350000
ParentID=0x3F000000
Pos=46,794,400,24; was 46,768,400,24
Color=0xFFFFFFFF

This was from pre-GWX I think. So just keep in mind that the block number may be different, or may have been changed by some other mod, so you may have to search the file for the the word "Title" to find it. I have no idea if the original Pos #'s might be different now (with GWX), or if the res you run might affect.

Best would be to copy the original ini file and make the change in a JSGME enable-able format. Sorry, but I don't have that. If you edit the file direct, make a backup copy.

Yes the screen/station titles do appear in GWX. Since I play the game on a Vista machine I play in the standard 1024x768 resolution and from what I've read I'm pretty sure the resolution fix wouldn't work for me.

Thanks for your suggestion.

I just did a quick check in my menu.ini, and the location is the same, so it hasn't been touched by any mods that I'm aware of.

Since all that gets changed is one of the four 'Location' numbers, I'm assuming that this doesn't actually remove it, it just moves it offscreen. It shouldn't hurt anything in your game to make that little change.

Yup, AFAIK that's how it works.

Gee, I did that fix a long time ago, part of my sliding stations panel mod, the info is still there & can be adapted to any menu_1024_768.ini file.

I imagine the change is made by a number of mods. OLC Gui for one, I suppose, 'cause I don't see the titles and I'm running GWX and haven't put the change in myself.
