Default renown in GWX 2.1

GWX 2.1 is .... there are no words good enogh to describe it; amaizingis an understatement but for newcomers like me it is very difficult to get renown.
Nothing wrong with it,on the contrary but I was wondering if someone has developed a mod to make it easier to ger renown.

For example, standard feature in gwx 2,1 is that no renown is given by reaching the allocate grid zone and patrolling it for 24 hours.

Is there a mod that can reset this so we can get the renown??

Thisi way it is a little bit easier to have mor renown for uppgrade to a new submarine a little earlier.

Hi
Be back in port

Go to C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg

Open Basic.cfg in notepad

Look for

[RENOWN]
RenownReachGridObjCompleted=0
RenownPatrolGridObjCompleted=0
CompletedPatrol=0

change to

[RENOWN]
RenownReachGridObjCompleted=300
RenownPatrolGridObjCompleted=200
CompletedPatrol=100 < doesnt work anyway - never has

Or whatever floats your boat

Another way , which is a bit naughty ,is go to: My documents\sh3\data\cfg\careers\"player"\patrols_. Open and near the bottom adjust "delta renown" to your liking. (Be in port)
I dont advocate this but i also dont think Kaleuns had to "buy" most upgrades for the war effort,also it was a feat completing a patrol seeing as 75% of u-boat crews never returned. I prefer BBW's method,keeps it in the spirit of things.

My vote would have gone for a hidden renown system, in which you are offered upgrades after certain levels, but you could never know what the criteria were. Same would work with replacement crew: as time went on you would be offered more experienced men but would not see any evidence of why.

The main thing in the game is adventure, action. Renown, basically, is not so important (though to receive a medal is certainly pleasant)... BUT. In GWX 2 points of renown are so poor, that practically useless. Practically nothing can be "bought" for these points. And it at realism 82 %!!!
BTW... Editing of My documents\sh3\data\cfg\careers\"player"\patrols_0 has changed nothing. The quantity of points remains invariable (I am in port). Is anything wrong?

C:\Documents and Settings\Jim\My Documents\GWX\data\cfg\Careers\Herbert Rathke or whoever...Patrols_0 CFG

Change the DeltaRenown value at the bottom.

How was it IRL? I must admit, a "points system" dose seem alittle arcadish. I would have to think that when advances in weaponry were made, the boats would be fitted with the new toys to help the war effort. Unless only the most successful captains were offered the new toys:hmm:, in which case the "points" as we know them are there to reflect this.

The newer equipment tended to be fitted to the boats as they were built and the kaleuns would occasionally leave their old commands to take charge of the newer platform.

As the war progressed and the losses to U-boats increased, this tended to happen even more often.
