Default Several versions of the same beauty

Most of you know this piece from the movie "The Deer Hunters" (one of the few movies whose ending brought tears to my eyes). The evocative, melancholic guitar of "Cavatina" is one of the most beautiful pieces of music that I ever heared, and until today touches my heart.

Here you find several diufferent versions of it, mostly played by either the composer Stanley Myers or Australian guitar-player John Williams (not mistake him with the influential soundtrack composer John Williams!)

Enjoy!

P.S. Is it really that long ago? Young Meryl Streep was looking awfully cute back then, and Robert de Niro just had climbed to the peak of his skills. I saw that ovie first time in the night before one of my school exams, and got too little sleep - but I could not stop watching. Very moving film. If you don't know it, go and watch it.

We obviously share similar memories of a masterpiece of a film and equally masterful music

Good one!
But for some mysterious reason couldn't stop wondering how would Jimmy Hendrix have played it!

Staying with the cinematic music theme, here's a nice version of the 'Godfather Waltz'. I'm a big fan of both Nino Rota and Ennio Morricone.

Morricone's score for The Mission is IMHO his masterpiece.

I have this on a cd. Listened to it many times on my walkman when bicycling in the winter (yes, we do that here) and the snow is falling from the sky. Very nice memory. Here's some soundtrack music from Last of the Mohicans, I really like that 'wardrum' at the beginning.

And from Black Hawk Down.
