Icon8 Message for COMSUBPAC About Photo Missions

Dear COMSUBPAC,

Don't bother sending me any more requests to photo recon Rabaul (or any other port with 10+ miles of waist deep water surrounding it). If you need a picture of a Japanese ship, how about sending an aircraft--that's one of the many things they can do far easier than my boat.

While I'm on a rant, how about if you assign me a crew that follows orders and doesn't randomly ram the throttle to full speed two hours into a photo recon mission? That tends to signal my location and invites several Japanese coastal patrol ships to the gang bang.

I assume this sim is no longer being maintained so my belly-aching is pointless. Just seems a shame for them to take a piece of programming so far down the road and then allow it to linger with basic bug issues.

Objective: Ram photo recon mission requests in your aft tube.

I'm considering buying a copy of SH3 which apparently now works on windows 7. It also consistently gets the highest marks of all the SH titles. Maybe I can get a better experience.

From COMSUBPAC: get a mod that removes those missions - or ignore them

Excellent advice. Is there a mod that keeps my helmsman's twitchy hand off the throttle?

That shouldn't happen in any configuration. Something else is wrong, perhaps mod soup (copyright 2006 Kapt Lehmann. a salute in his general direction for that stroke of sheer genius).

But it's difficult to think of any combination of mods which would take control of your throttle. I prescribe a complete reinstallation and it well go away.

"Emergency Dive" in Stock, 'Crash Dive' will throttle you up to flank-speed at any depth. This is normal.... Maybe that's that issue?? - just trying to save you a re-install. : )

Happy Hunting!

Yes, but that's not the crew taking it into their own hands to put the boat at full throttle. That's them obeying your orders. And it will stay full throttle until you order otherwise too. Great way to lose all your fuel and not get back to base...

Now it's true that could never happen in a real submarine. We can't pretend we're getting realism here. We have to accept the hard coded defects in the game and make the best of them. Check out the possibility carefully before you reinstall.

Never heard of this.

Are you sure that it isn't just the boat slowing as you turn through your waypoints?

Mod soup can sometimes look yummeh... and smell yummeh... but it isn't always yummeh.

Sometimes that soup has bugs innit.

You sure you didn't accidentally push 5 on the keyboard? I've never heard of the sub just suddenly going to flank by itself.

Me either. Can you duplicate it, has it happened again?

If you order 'Crash Dive' while submerged, just as on the surface your boat will jump to flank-speed and dive.

If you Order a normal Dive or a depth, your boat should not jump to flank-speed.

Your boat should not jump to any speed unless you Order a speed or an action (like a Crash Dive).
