Default Best place to find warships?

And I don't mean destroyers

I'm playing the game with no mods (I wanted to get a feel for the game and play through a career before starting up some mods...probably GWX). So far all I can find is a Fiji light cruiser docked at Loch Ewe and haven't run into anything bigger anywhere else. It's mid-1942, by the way.

I havent encountered that many either other than a few escort vessels attached to convoys, and i've played a few careers by now, except in the areas you speak of,with Scapa Flow being Britain's main naval base.
I myself am in April 1942.
Your best bet may be to do some research on WWII in general and take some notes of the dates of major events/battles.From this information you could think to yourself "Rommel is about to invade N.Africa round about now, maybe I should position myself in an attempt to intercept any military build ups or landings in that area, particularly on D-Day,which was of course June 6th 1945.I expect Tobruk and round Egypt to be crawling around the time Rommel invaded N.Africa,I may be wrong too.
I may be wrong with this strategy but its as good as any,and I myself play with these things in mind.It could help you find a task force heading somewhere. :hmm:
In general,I reckon in my personal opinion that most major military engagements may be encountered later in the war,say the beginning of 44 right through to 45.

Paul, D-day was on June 6th 1944! Not 1945, but at least since such good tips are given out, i might aswell try to give it a go on hunting the battleships.. Always good change on sinking the merchant vessels.

Nice little shots you have there sealion.

Personally, being British I have a real innate aversion to opening fire on the King George, named after a good man indeed.Still...its a dirty job and someone has to do it

If I was to attack the George I dont think I would be doing it in broad daylight,a night attack seems much safer.A good job you did evidently.

Hi there
In the mediterranean in 42,you can sink King GEORGE V easy.
In grid "CO69" you'll find him .
First time I was in the Mediterranean , I came over a task Force contents :

1-HMS King George V
2-HMS Nelson
3-HMS Rodney
+ A couple of Destroyers and Auxillery cruisers Was I stressed??? Oh yes
When you're in the mediterranean you'll always find that task force in grid "CO69"

When I saw it I looked like this :

I wouldnt call myself a 'loser' ,rather 'new to the fold' instead.I know you didnt mean anything bad by that statement, just thought I would say
Say,just to change the subject very slightly, does it annoy you sometimes, with this silly modern talk about nubes, noobs, pwned (whatever that tripe is supposed to mean) to attempt to describe someone that is either: 1:young 2:relatively inexperienced and needs some info?.This stupid talk from kids today trying to be really impressive in front of the grown ups,and all knowing, really pisses me off!
I havent seen stuff like this in here yet,and its very unlikely too,but I have seen many examples in other forums, they seem to forget that they too were green once *the insolent fools*

Anyway,cheers!

Many warships are present in their historical theatre of operations. More info you may find in GWX 2.1 manual. Those informations are rather acurrate.
There're many posts concerning this subject on the forum. All you have to do is ... to search . Warships may be found in harbours f.e: Scapa Flow, Loch Ewe, Reyjkjavik, New York, Gibraltar (my favourite), Alexandria, Port Said. You may check movments of large or small Task Forces using SH3 Campaign or Mission Editor Tool attached to your game. For more info how to use it - check posts on the forum .
The best area to meet Task Force is Med. theatre of operations, especially from mid 1942 to late 1943.

Thanks for this info cezbor.I always knew that Gib would be crawling with warships as it was and probably still is a major British port.I think the history behind Gibraltar goes back to the colonial days, and as the British empire broke up and with France getting occupied the Brits moved their med. centre of control to Gib.?.Someone correct me here if I have the details of this wrong.

Cheers.
