Dead at end of patrol

Hi,

I'm new to GWX and I am having a slight difficulty. The campain starts a month before the war goes live and so I go out on my three day shake down cruise but when the game starts I find my self of the coast of Africa and to make matters worse at the end of my three day cruise if I exit the patrol and go to return to port it goes back to the main menu in the game and if I load the save game it says I'm dead.

Erm do I need to reinstall it all again? I'm running nasty vista.

Hi pallaeon, welcome aboard!

Don't run Vista myself but it sounds like that's not the problem. How far from home base are you when "exit patrol"? If you're more than 25km from a friendly port all sorts of weird things might happen. If you use the "Warp back to base function" from mid-ocean, you will frequently find yourself on the sea-floor. Don't know how you managed to get to west Africa in three days, wish I could do that! In SH3 Commander you can select your starting month/year, along with many other options. Try tinkering with the menu's until you find a set-up you can live with.

No no, I don't sail to south Africa it starts me off by west africa. An I get no where near a friendly port in three days lol. I guess I'm just gonna have to spend weeks at see getting to a port. At least the war don't start for another month.

On the fourth day of your patrol you should receive a radio message telling you to return to base.

Next, submit a transfer to the first or second flotilla.

Your second patrol should then commence on 24th August from either Kiel or Wilhelmshaven, depending on which flotilla you transferred to.

You now have a week to cruise to your patrol area in preparation of the commencement of hostilities, just as in RL.

Yeah I know that. The problem i got is when i go back to port the game goes straight to main menu and if I load saved game it says last save is dead. I start the war in Flotilla 2 as I prefer the Viib over the ii.

I'm sorry if i was a bit short was a little irritable from bad day at work, side effects of to people going sick and starting work at 4 in the morning, but thats no excuse to take it out on others. I hope you can except my apology. Should have spent more than five seconds skim reading your reply and read what you said more clearly. I thought you ment I had sailed as far as west africa and tried to exit the mission and that I was to far from port and the game glitchs due to that. Not that it matters anymore as I can play all the single missions fine, now when ever I try to continue or start a new carrier the game crashs to desktop, so I am guessing I just need to restall.

Ok. No hard feelings. You are right about posting when tired. Misjudgement and snappish occurs when tired :p

Game start you at 0 lat 0 long ( off Africa ) when cannot find proper start point in file
Sometime have another mod enabled which mix up start points

Or Vista has not added all files in 2.1 update

What patch are you referring to ?

You never mentioned any patch in your earlier posts :hmm:

on my first complete{well not so "complete"after all}patrol i hit the end patrol button and when i docked i found that i could award a iron cross 2nd class and 17 u-boat badges to my crew.but i was'nt awarded anything.this after sinking 9 merchants for 34,300 tonnes.i admit its not exactly 100.000 but i think i should have gotten SOMETHING.

I'm referring to the GWX minor fixes 26th April patch. Tried removing that using the mod enabler and I can actually start a patrol. So guessing my copy of the fix is corrupted and gonna re download it.

You could consider installing this via JSGME instead of 26th April patch:

You get a few additional AA ships as well.
