Hi there.
I have a collection of mods that I want to run (if possible) before I start a new campaign. I was wondering if some more experienced folks could help me with the install order, and which mods might not be compatible. ![]() i appreciate this is a long list!! and i appreciate some mods might have to get dropped in the interest of compatibility!! but ive spent days now reading about the different mods, and this is my resulting list of ones which i thought would make for ultimate realism??? ![]() GWX - English Nav Map and Grid Refs GWX - Alternate Loadscreen - Full Circle GWX - Axis Mediterranean Aircraft Skins GWX - Captain America's Officer Icons GWX - Open Hatch Mod GWX - Main movie - 'Das Boot' GWX - No Medals on Crew GWX - Integrated Orders GWX - VIIC41 Player Sub GWX - Late War Sensors Snorkel Antennas GWX - Alternative Flotillas GWX - Merged Campaign Authentic_Off_Faces #2 LifeBoats&Debris_v3B Rowers_for_LifeBoats&Debris_v3B Torpedo damage Final ver2.0 Real Depth Charge Sub Image mod WBNN Messages WBNN SH3 Cmdr (Chronological) Fuel Economy mod v1.1 GWX v21.1 Patch And Bugfixes interior diving angles interior diving angles (openhatch) OLCE2 OLC GUI Special OLCE2 - Adjusted GWX 2.1 Crew Skins ENV - Water_Stream_and_exhaust_smoke LRT v2.02 Final OLCE2 - Adjusted GWX 2.1 Enhanced Particle Effects (with reflections) Sobers 3D waves Phoenix1957 Shortcut version 3 GWX 2.1 fix patch LRT 2.02 Integrated Orders LRT 2.02 patch Das Boot Clothes |

I can tell you what will and won't conflict with my stuff.
Sobers 3D Waves will conflict with OLCE2 in JSGME. You can ignore the conflict and nothing game-breaking will happen, but sobers low-res green wave textures won't look too good in OLCE2. In fact in some conditions it'll look like one of jimbuna's screenshots (if you've not seen them, just imagine SH3 on acid). OLCE2 already includes improved wave textures (which is what Sobers "3D" Waves actually are ![]() I assume "ENV - water stream and exhaust smoke" is a mod combining rubini's water stream with RB's exhaust smoke, in which case it would conflict with "OLCE2 - GWX 2.1 Enhanced Particle Effects (with reflections)" so you should check whether the person who made that mod made it for compatibility with OLCE2 or not. Don't use Integrated Orders LRT with OLC GUI Special. I think there is an OLC GUI compatible version of LRT, though I don't know if it is up-to-date or if it's compatible with OLC GUI Special, but the IO version is for use with the GWX IO mod, not for use with OLC GUI. I haven't heard of "Das Boot Clothes" but if it's a crew uniform mod then it will be incompatible with the "OLCE2 - GWX 2.1 Adjusted Crew Skins" modlet. The rest... might be okay. ![]()

i downloaded your tutorial movies. and i was listening to you at 11pm last night whilst my wife was snoring in bed behind me! i distinctly heard a cigarette lighter being sparked and a mug of coffee being set down in the background. am i correct? :p could you offer any advice re the install order. for example, i am unsure of when the GWX2.1 bugfixes patch should go on? thanks |

Cigarettes and tea; I'm English!
![]() GWX 2.1 bug fixes should go in first, witout any JSGME mods enabled (not even the ones that come with GWX) and really it should be "enabled" by directly overwriting the GWX installation files, not via JSGME. Note that the fixes include a new JSGME modlet called 'GWX 2.1 location of something and something ports' which, IIRC, you do not need to enable unless you are using a certain mod which affects those ports... and I don't see that mod in your list, so leave that modlet disabled. As for the rest, as long as JSGME doesn't report conflicts then the install order doesn't matter. If JSGME reports conflicts between two mods then you need to check with the mod makers whether or not those two mods are compatible and what order they should be installed in. HTH OLC

OLC
I done exactly what you said. When I went to enable OLC GUI Special via JSGME it warned me that would overwrite some files changed by integrated orders and flotilla mods that ship with GWX2.1. i said OK. is this expected did i do the right thing? thanks |

You can't use IO and OLC GUI at the same time. You need to disable IO before enabling OLC GUI. Don't worry, OLC GUI already includes most of the IO features. What's this flotilla mod you mentioned? I don't have any "flotilla mod that shipped with GWX"

@WeeBubba Er... maybe just don't use it? I mean, do you really need the 3rd Flotilla?

@ WeeBubba: I can't speak to the order of every mod on your list, since mine is somewhat different and I'm still experimenting with the newest myself; but you would do well to install all the stuff with GWX in the label first, as they were designed specifically for that supermod. After that you can experiment - JSGME is very forgiving in that area, which is of course why we use it.

![]() Also, I tried installing Thomsens Sound Pack via JSGME last night but JSGME seemed to hang. I figured this was probably down to the sound pack being so big, so I was patient with it. But in the end nothing seemed to be happening so I had to end the task. Anyone else have this? Do you use Thomsens sound pack or the das boot one? Thanks again, I am getting there slowly but surely. Can't wait to set sail now. I guess it's difficult getting up to speed with these things after a long layoff with the game! P.S. I also added the community units mod to my list. |
