Default Game Crashs when sub is destroyed.

Hello

Sorry if this is posted in wrong forum, i also tryed to search my problem to.

My problem i am having i think is a Nvidia driver problem. when my sub is destroyed my game will crash to desktop also crashing my Nvidia driver, I have to reinstall my Nvidia driver to play the game again or any other game. The error message i get is Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has
successfully recovered.

I have tryed to reinstall Silent Hunter4 and the U-boat addon twice. the game crashs with im playing the U-Boat or Wolfs of the pacific when sub is destroyed, Every other part of the game plays just fine when when i die the game dies to.

Im playing in Windows64bit with a 8800 gts

Thanks for any help in Advance

This was happening to me a few months ago, but for the life of me I can't remember what fixed it. Are you patched to 1.4? Latest drivers? You might try TMO and see if that mod fixes it. Good luck.

I'm trying to see the downside of that.... .....maybe the modders could work that in as a regular feature for mall of us. I can't think of a better "real" extra incentive for keeping oneself alive.....

Hehe, yeah i agree i do seem to be staying afloat a lot longer. My game is fully patched and my system fully updated.

I was just playing the game now and it crashed during me taking out 3 ships in a convoy.

I wonder if it could be a Vista problem with the Nvidia drivers i been searching google for anwers it seems its a very common problem with no solid solution

As anyone here had this problem and fixed it ?

Seminole, perhaps you should look into a few old games, like Starflight. As I remember, it saved your game if you died. Since it only allowed one save, the only way to be safe was to manually back up your save game.

I'm using 64 bit Vista (Ultimate Edition) and Nvidia drivers (several driver versions now) but I never, ever have had any problem so ..I don't know what to say about that. When the Ultimate Edition encounters a problem it will close the program and offer solutions,,,even sending me to specific websites.

For example when Neal posted his targeting clip I couldn't play it. Vista told me it was because I was missing a certain Codec file. It connected me to a third party website ...I downloaded the file and bingo..I was watching his clip.

I know that can't be much comfort to you...didn't any of those encountering this problem offer any solutions?

Good luck resolving this!

Opps..BTW...there was a thread I saw once about Nvidia drivers and SH4, probably in Mods. You might try and search that one up..I never read it so can't say what it is about. But worth a shot.

First: Try 177.26 drivers. They have solved for many/all of us who had the CTD's and BSODs with 1.5/VISTA/8800 series cards, including the dreaded nvlddmkm thing.

So your game crashes when your sub is destroyed? Sounds like you're playing at 110% realism!! :rotfl:

OK, seriously, take a look over this thread. The information within was the ONLY solution that got me back into the game again.

Thank you very much for the replies

The 177.26 drivers seem to have fixed the most horrid nvlddmkm thingy been playing all day with no problem.

A friend of mine was having the same problem with the nvlddmkm thing while playing Age of Conan and it has fixed that to.

once again thanks for the help
