One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich was a really, really fine novel.

My favourite novel, think I must have read it a dozen times.

RIP Solzhenitsyn, a great Russian author.

A fine example to his country and those of his elk.

Great author period. I first read The Gulag Archipelago in the Seventies when 'detant' with the Soviets was the current buzzword and it had a deep and profound effect. I would have deeply loved to have been able to read him in Russian rather than relying on translations.

RIP
