Always wanted to go to that show. Thanks for the pix.

That F-22/spitfire picture sure does illustrate how big our modern fighters are.

Great shots, I always kick myself since I'm not far away, and have never gone. That simulated bomb result is chilling.... I'm on the flight path for our air show coming soon. One thing I'll never forget was hearing a strange sound a couple of years back, and considering I live in the eastern side of Ohare's final approach, I thought I've heard it all. It kept getting louder and higher pitch to the point of the ground shaking, I happen to look west and it was two B-1's at less the 10,000. Talk about a hair standing on end experience.... can't wait to see what flies past the house this year, maybe get some pics to share with the class.

@1480: I think the Raptor is scheduled to be at Chicago this year.

Here's a couple more (as I go through them, I took about 500 )

A Hawker Hunter makes a pass

A Yak-9 being prepped for flight

We went to a Q&A session with Col. Dolittle's co-pilot

The first time I've seen a Mosquito

A MiG-15

and a U-2

@1480

go to:

http://http://www.cityofchicago.org/...eEnumValue=183

for a full list of what will be there at the Chicago air show. The Blue Angels will be there in addition to the Raptor. From what I understand admission is free.

Here in Mid-MO, the B-2's fly over all the time.

@ LobsterBoy, thanks for the info, I hope the Raptor does a low flyby, that would be awesome. They get a million people each of the two days on the lakefront every year. Having worked crowd control there a couple of times, I tend to stay far away.

That's always been one of my favorite jokes about how things change:
In 1943 a P-47, at 14,000+ pounds was called the "Jug", and "Seven-ton milk bottle."

The F-16, with a gross take-off weight of 37,000 pounds is referred to as a "lightweight" fighter.
