Default savegame crashes problem

Yeah, its like this:

One sunk for 4ktons or so, afterwards spotting a BIG convoy, using some care and time in order to intercept something from thereof. Succeeds after a s**tload of sneaking about, etc. followed by a carpload of DCs and all that nonsense.

Well, all good so far because of us escaping without loss of limb and life, etc. and even succeeding in sinking the bugger for approx. 5000 tons or so. Was followed by us dashing due west until no contacts seen or any noticeable activity observed (the game was running smoothly at 1024xTC) and then saving and exiting (was some 500km+ from the coast too).

The result: the aforementioned save crashes the game.

Seriously, what IS THE F*NG POINT if this is how this, eh, "works"??? Or should we, rather, wait for DFTD to get somewhere???

All kudos to GWX et.al. But if the basic game is THIS f*d then what's the point?

Rant off and all that + another disgruntled Kaleun signing off ehehh

That would p*ss me off too. If it wasn't for GWX I'd throw the game out (far too many bugs in the stock product). It seems like it was written by somebody who was just learning programming. That's one of the things that's kept me from buying SH IV.

And yes, I of course loaded a previous save too & will soon be after that convoy AGAIN

S! all. Yeah, the problem w/ SH3 - can't shoot it, can't live with it

i play silent hunter since its release in 2005 and i almost never had save game problems i take care of saving far for potential saturated places that's all i've lots of mods installed i don't make the list there's a lot but in general i don't modify the dat files except where i can't do anything else i don't know if it comes from that but i can say i rarely have the wish of throwing the game from the windows far from that

Yeah, been there. In my experience, there is NO guarantee that a saved game can be loaded. just have to save a lot and hope an erlier save will load. The only sure save if the one at base, so try to make it home before turning it off. I play on my laptop, which could hibernate, so I don't have to exit the game.
