Community Units CTD problem...

I'm having a problem with the Community Units (GWX 2.1 ready) mod. It seems that each time that I've enabled the mod through JSGME my game will ctd at some point when I've saved in mid-patrol. These crashes rarely, if ever, happen right after the saved game is loaded. They always seem to happen after some time has passed; at least an hour or so. The last ctd occurred when I manually moved the IWO to the bridge & the one before that happened when I went to "change a record" on the gramaphone. I never save while submerged or near any land or objects (ships or aircraft) & always manually move crew around. I also don't add new mods in mid career or while out at sea. I'm using "stock" GWX 2.1 with the following mods enabled:

1) 2.1 bugfix
2) Interior Diving Angles (GWX compatible version)
3) Head4 by Anvart (gets rid of the ugly triangles on the crew's haircuts)
4) GWX - Capt. America's Icons
5) GWX - Colour Contacts
6) GWX - Enhanced Damage Effects
7) GWX - Lite Harbour Traffic
8) GWX - Integrated Orders
9) Lifeboats & Debris v3B
10) Red Nav Map Night Filter by Venatore
11) Red U-marker by Venatore
12) German Submarines Soundtrack for JSGME
13) Sub Image mod
14) Torpedo damage final by Ocean Blue.

I also have the latest version of SH3 Cmdr with the GWX config files installed (correctly - I think). The game is very stable when the Community Unit unit isn't enabled. When I have enabled that mod I've always done it right after enabling the 2.1 bugfix. Any help would be appreciated as I'd really like to use the Community Units and it would be a pity if I couldn't because of instability.

Thanks...

A similar problem came up before, I don't use the mod but when you install these do you get a warning from JSGME if so then there is a clash, an existing mod file gets replaced by the new one, this can and usually causes problems, you will have to edit & combine the clashing mods, then enable this newly created one.

I've experienced something similar and have had to abandon Community Units ( and AOTD extra Units ). In my case the game seemed to crash when there was a lot of drain on video card power. I use an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX (512 Mb) in a Dell XPS M1710 laptop with Intel Core2CPU T7600 @ 2.33 GHz and with 4 Gig of RAM.

It could be that your video set-up just isn't up to it.

I don't get JSGME error messages when I've installed the Community Units mod.

By the looks of it I may have to abandon the Community Units mod too; it kind of p*sses me off too as I spent about 2 hours downloading it (I have slow-poke dial up access right now). I have a Geforce 7300 LE 256MB card which came with the system & I don't intend to replace it unless the card breaks down because that will void the pc's warranty & I had a bad experience with upgrading the card in my old pc.

I guess that I can live with out the Community Units as GWX works pretty well on it's own.

Thanks for the help...

Oh well, GWX works pretty well without the Community Units.

Thanks for the help...

If you speak german you should take a look into german ubi-Forum. There complain several guies about problems with this mod.

I think I was lucky have got Community Units (GWX 2.1 ready) mod working with corrections.
Adding the ships 1 by 1 and seeing if there's a CTD is a good idea.
I can remember NF_boat_Y had no NF_boat_Y_sil and also the NF_boat_Y_en.log wasn't english:-
[MUSEUM]
Text=Boäoèçìeùeíèe: 75 ò|Äëèía: 27.5 ì|Øèpèía: 2.8 ì|Ocaäêa: 1.9 ì|Ma÷òa: 13.2 ì|Cêopocòü: 12 óçëoâ
Have added sil and translated. Still working on it, improving the sils so they are all the same and at correct mast height etc.
I don't think these would cause a CTD, but shows there are errors.
It's a really good mod adding more variations.

If your using firefox, get addon FoxLingo, it will translate the page into your language.

I've never enabled the AOTD mod yet. I use the 2.1 bugfix & always enable that mod first. I also leave all the mods that I've chosen for the first patrol of a new career enabled & active during that whole career. There's just something about the Community Units mod that my pc doesn't seem to like. "Stock" GWX seems to be fine (very few crashes).

I'll have a better idea as to whether my problem is, indeed, a graphics card issue when I get a new power supply into my desk-top rig. That has twin NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 cards in SLI format. If that can't handle it, I'll give up and buy a flight sim.

The Community Units mod should work fine in GWX2.1 provided it is installed AFTER the AOTD-AA-Ship-Schleuse-Bugfix mod.

Is that bug fix a requirement for the CUM?

Not specifically....but as I understand it, if the two mods are used in the same installation in reverse order, you will experience a ctd.
