Default SOF Sluggish Graphics - Any Fixes?

Hello all

I recently bought SOF 1914, and while this _looks_ like it could be a fascinating sim, I find it severely hampered by the very sluggish graphics. Not only is panning with mouse slow and somewhat jerky, the slow, lumpy sea graphics make it feel like sailing in grey treacle.

I have scanned back through all the messages in the preceding threads, and while I find similar comments, I don't notice any solid fixes for this problem. Are there any?

For the record, my machine is a P4/3Ghz with 1Gb RAM, running Windows XP. The graphics card is a GForce FX5500.

Thanks

Mike

I have the sluggishness as well panning with the mouse. I think that is the way it is so I just use the number pad to move my view. 4-left, 8-up, 6-right, 2-down. That was my question some weeks back about balky mouse business. It seems that the mouse sensitivity scales back so you need to move it farther. 1 gig of RAM isn't helping with Xp, but I don't think that's it as I have a similar system with 4 gigs and an ATI 850xt (I think) PCIe card.

I really like this sim for the subject and the look and enjoy playing it. It grows on you. Having said that, I can't finish patrol 4 due to hard system crashes. I thought it was solved by tweeking the shader setting, since it will stay on for hours now without rebooting, however, patrol four has dumped me four times now and twice when I was finished. I'll try once more and then try a new install and new career.

Anyway it's not an expensive product to cry over too much.

Thanks Buddahaid

In fact I have more-or-less resolved the problem by transferring SOF to my laptop (4-months-old technology, vs my 3-years-old desktop). Now it has become playable.

Thanks

I personally think that this game uses a lot more system resources than it says it requires on the box. My two systems exceeds it's requirements but runs it so slow and jumpy that the game is unplayable.
