Default Pre-Drawn Nav Plots

Ya know those search pattern things that no one uses? I know they're just simple text files (they modded a couple of em in GWX to traverse the canal). Far as I can tell, they're read at startup only.

Would it require changing the source code to allow those pre-drawn nav plots to be loaded at runtime?

Imagine what you could do if they could be loaded at runtime. :hmm:

I dont know anything about how the game utilizes them

I did use them to make auto evasive maneuvers though
for surface combat, with a few limitations it worked great.

You get the right pattern, you could spell your name in the water, like skywriting in reverse.:rotfl:.

(Kind of related)

You know what would be great, a "Course Clock".

A Course Clock is basically a device where you set a predetermined pattern that it runs over your base course.

In other words set heading 180 and it'll run whatever pattern you set while overall heading down that course baseline.

Fleetboats had them.

Ive never seen one, I just needed evasive maneuvers
for my shIII Uberboot mod. surface battles are buys
enough without having one hand on the wheel too.
so I made do with what there was.

the three patterns would if done right work on
North or south
east or west
and SE to NW and vice versa

you would have to point the nose to at least
orient the ship in the direction you needed it in
or it may go 180 degrees in the wrong direction.

given a little practice time with it I found it
totally useful. it was meant for video makers really though.

it was tedious to make though so I included a template for
peops to make their own in with the mod.
(BTW my shIII mods are coming down off my FF soon)

The "Course Clock" comment is basically what I'm looking for. If those auto nav plot buttons loaded the course at runtime (when you click it in the game) you could easily keep a whole library of maneuvers to swap in as needed.
