Cannot install Sh3 1.4b patch

First time this has happened. Yes, I know Windows Vista 32-bit sucks complete ass and I regret getting it.

I have a clean install of SH3, I have a good SH3 1.4b patch, it installed half way and the other half, it said access denied. I noticed this because my GWX did not install and I watched the patching carefully.

I have SH3 installed out of Program Files, I installed it on Local Disk, outside of it. And I guess that's restricted as well. Please help? I have de installed and reinstalled Silent Hunter III twice and tried to patch 8 or 9 times!

What is the exact message you're getting? How new is the SH3 you have? Newer ones come already patched, and it won't accept a second patch. How to tell? Load the game and while the loading screen is showing you will see the version displayed in the lower right-hand corner. If it says 1.4...there's the problem.

I have had this Silent Hunter III for a long time, so it was never patched. I have patched it before and run GWX 2.0/2.1, I fixed it. I had to go into the CORE of this comp to fix this problem!

P.S.-I hate Vista!
