And a good thing you didn't. To go in the "realistic" thread they'll have to be a lot better than that!:p :rotfl:

Hmm...two early Fletchers and a Gearing - USS Power to be exact.

Great shots! Thanks for sharing them.

Oh definitely an Iowa. The profile tells all. I couldn't have identified her specifically if you hadn't said, though.

Very nice shots - be sure to congratulate your officer.

My favorite is the one with the DD's. I like the Gearings & Fletchers although the older classes like the "Benson" & "Gleaves" are my favorite.

I'm not sure, but the destroyers have been rebuilt with fully enclosed bridges, so I would assume 1960 at the earliest. Don't know for certain, though.

I believe the shots are all circa 1947.

Not sure about the carriers maybe pre-mothballs in 47?

BTW the sailor taking these photos was assigned to the USS Jeffers which was a Gleaves class but redesignated as a minesweeper. :hmm:

Could be that early. I was looking at the Power and saw windows on the bridge. The Gearings originally had an open bridge with a small pilot house behind

and were later rebuilt with a completely enclosed bridge

But, as can also be seen in the more recent picture, Power, like many other Gearings, also had mount 52 removed during the rebuild.

Looks like I was wrong.

Great shots matey! Thanks for sharing.

The carriers are obvisouly CVE's of some sort but It's hard to distinguish whether they care Casablanca or Commencement Bay class. both had similar superstructures and hull shapes although IIRC the Commencement Bays had their flight decks set back a little more from the bow than the Casablanca's. other than the Bogue (the superstructure is the wrong height), these were the two most numerous CVE's built. The other 4 classes only contained between 2 and 4 ships.

Same thoughts as mine....even when looking at these photos.

Purely because of the number of vessels in the photo and the number built in RL I reckon it's a toss up between the Casablanca and Commencement Bay Classes.

Bogue

Charger

Sangamon

Casablanca

Commencement Bay
