Default Oil war is on

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,369005,00.html

I told you this is where the Enron guys went:

Quote:
BEN STEIN: I was just in a room with a whole bunch of speculators who are former Enron traders that are now trading natural gas and oil. And they're laughing their heads off about how much they're manipulating the price of oil. They couldn't care less.
We need to hang these bastards. Thanks for the lack of caring on the behalf of the US Government. The prosecutors should have charged all of them!!!

I'll get the rope I knew the eggheaded speculators where up to this crap. Oil should never have been put on the commodity market.

Its the Enron guys. The US Gov never touched them so they are doing the same things once again.

If you listened to that damning tape on Enron about the guy laughing his head off about shutting the power off in Cali, he said at the end that all the guys were bailing on Enron and going into oil. The US Gov never even prosecuted the guy on the tape! This is terrible! This is why gas costs $4 to $5 a gallon!!!

Thanks US Gov! i see you are doing your job! Time to start firing people out there!

In this case, yes. We had no problems the entire time it was regulated. This is a product of deregulation. Things that are important to National Security should be regulated. I consider this one of them since this country is based on it. It's no different than the US Gov regulating the military in my opinion.

If they want to hype up the price of a joystick. Thats fine, I don't need to buy it. Gas i cannot go through life without buying.

I agree with you. I think the airlines need it again too.

I agree with that to, but only from an employee perspective. What the airlines did to pensions just irks me, and I will not fly United for example if I don't have to because of what they did to their employees.

Yeah, my neighbor before I went away to school was a recently retired UAL heavy captain. Flew for them since circa 1960 (flew F-86s for the USAF before United), retiring late 90s/early 2000. They even screwed him out of some benefits after he'd retired...

The airlines just can't survive in an a competitive environment with oil being so high. Probably the only industry in the world where they don't pass on the cost of doing biz to the consumer.

The difference is that the Government owns the military; it doesn't exist without government funding.

I'm not saying you're wrong, mind; my father was one of those United pilots who got the shaft. I'm just throwing that observation into the mix.

True to a point, but as it used to practically own the oil and gas trade after Rockerfeller screwed with it all those years back. Standard Oil brought about regulation of the oil and gas trade and it worked.

And in my opinion, the people of the United States owns the military, and the government is simply charged with regulating and maintaining it. :p Much like the military used to be charged to the Militia's!

I am making much sense today, no? Must be on a roll! :hmm:
