An Obama fan?

A teacher in Lafayette, Tennessee asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans.

Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different...again.

Little Johnny said, "Because I'm not an Obama fan."

The teacher asked, "Why aren't you an Obama fan?"

Johnny said, "Because I'm a Republican."

The teacher asked him why he's a Republican.

Little Johnny answered, "Well, my Mom's a Republican and my Dad's a Republican, so I'm a Republican."

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, "If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?"

With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, well I guess that would make me an Obama fan

wow...that came from a blog by a guy who thinks America is a "Lefty state"!

That's some whacky relativity there.

*edit*
I didn't realise being a republican was hereditary. Faulty gene?

Aren't jokes just hilarious, especially original and insightful ones. For example Jimbuna posted this one just the other day

Quote:
A teacher starts a new job at a primary school in Portsmouth and, trying to make a good impression on her first day, explains to her class that she's a big football fan and supports Portsmouth. She asks her students to raise their hands if they, too, are Portsmouth fans.
Everyone in the class raises their hand except one little girl. The teacher looks at the girl with surprise and says: "Mary, why didn't you raise your hand?"
"Because I'm not a Portsmouth fan miss," she replies. The teacher, still shocked asks:"Well, if your not a Portsmouth fan, then who are you a fan of?"
"I'm a West Ham fan, and proud of it," Mary replies. The teacher can't believe her ears. "Mary, how come you're a Hammers fan?"
"Because my mum and dad are from London's East End and are West Ham fans, so I'm a West Ham fan too!"
"Still," says the teacher, annoyed, "that's no reason for you to be a West Ham fan as well. You don't have to be like your parents all the time, do you? What if your mum was a prostitute and your dad was a drug addict and car thief. Would you be like them then?"
"No," smiles Mary, "I'd be a Portsmouth fan."

Question: which is funnier?

Two things:

1. America has gone pretty far to the left. If you put it on a scale, from its inception, it would be almost at the left. Funny that this is where we have been fighting for over 200 years to avoid becoming.

2. On the heridity thing - you aren't very smart are you?

An old Indian proverb about the white man "Talk Much, Say Little"
which has now (far to the left) become the proverb of politicians...

Kids tend to adopt the party affiliation of their parents i think. Partially because their parents fill their kids full of party propaganda. Stuff like Those bleeding hearted liberals are all a bunch of commies! Or Those warmongers will only bring us down! Since their your parents, and your young and impressionable, one tends to take what they say as the truth. I know i regestered republican, only because thats what my parents were and id catch hell if i didn't regester as such.

Now that im older, i realize that im more of an independant then anything. I tend to have some values found in both parties, but am NOT particuarly fond of either party. Infact, i hate both of them. I dislike the republican party for being too NeoCon and hawkish, and i dislike the Democrats for being too bleeding hearted liberal. Theres a happy medium between the two, unfortunatly american politics is extremely polarized. Your basically catagorized by others as for being one, or the other, with nothing in between. Our politics are f**king stupid, and far too much of it based in emotion or faith.

Yes, the American polarization is strange. It is much less distinct in the UK.
Perhaps partly because we have 3 main parties and many independent MPs.

There is endless fighting for what ever position is considered he center ground here.

That said, it has not always been so. "left" and "right" where not always the dirty
words they are now in UK politics.
