Hi again,
Over the weekend I had a bit of luck and managed to obtain a very large file (2.2 gigs) of WWII radio broadcasts covering 1934-1945 from the likes of CBS, BBC, RDF plus speeches from all premiers and monarchs and other big nobs, as well as Lord Haw-Haw. So what I do is select the broadcasts of the month I'm going out on patrol and press play, but blimey, how realistic it is. Slight problem though with the volume level, I don't really want to edit over 2 gigs of mp3's, that would be an eternal task so I was wondering if there was a way to increase the Gramaphone volume via some tweak or other. The sound options are set to max already, but I've always found this thing on the quiet side. Many Thanks. Herr Trigger. |

If your in-game settings are at max you can always increase the overall volume of your sound-card ( access the program via Control Panel ).
That might bring your gramophone volume up to an acceptable level but risks making all the other in-game sounds too loud. What I would suggest is downloading a program such as MP3Gain. It's freeware: http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net It allows you to nornalise the volume of a whole batch of mp3 files. I'd experiment with a short sample until you're happy with the in-game balance, then run the lot through Mp3Gain. You might have to do it in a few batches, but it can handle fairly heavy loads. |

Don't know about Herr Trigger's source(s), but you might find this useful:
http://www.archive.org/details/oldtimeradio Quality is sometimes questionable ( Thank God for Audacity ) and often bitrates vary within series ( Thank God for Media Coder.) I've been an OTR fan and collector for a few years now. Currently I have around 40 Gigs of material and I'm still collecting. Warning! It can easily become addictive! ![]() |

you could try the windows sound recorder--programs/accessories/entertainment/sound recorder.I use this to increase the volume on individual sh3 sound files

How many individual files are there? Shoot me a copy and I'll convert them all to .ogg and balance the levels. Heck, I'll even make all the Date folders and put them in. I already have all my music appearing on the proper dates.

All sorted thanks to Von Manteuffel, used 'MP3 Gain' with excellent results. Many thanks for that.
