Hi all.
I'm having a lot of problems with the program nhancer, the one recommended in this thread: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=128517 It works fine the first one or two times I run it, but after that, it's random crashes and problems at startup. The only thing that gets my display drivers running smoothly again is a reinstall. Anyone else experiencing problems with this program? I'm going to give up on using it even though it seems I only get decent AA with it. "Stock" nvidia just doesn't do it right. |

Well, I don't have good news for you, I have quite a few folks that run nHancer and love it. No crashes.
1. Check to see you are running the version that fits your OS; 32 bit vs 64 bit there are two versions available. 2. Try the Beta version as a last ditch try. 3. Are you unloading and loading your Nvidia drivers correctly and using a good Driver Cleaner utility to remove remnants of the Nvidia drivers. They are notorious about leaving stuff around that hinders the next driver installed. My experience I ran nHancer for a awhile but I just did not need another app to tweak and adjust. If I only ran one sim then maybe. I uninstalled and went back to using the Nvidia CP with its warts and limitations. I have three profiles that I preload and launch my sim and off I go. Hope this helps and there will be more folks to help.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Actually, your post was very informative. I just needed to know if nhancer was a kind of shoddy homemade "beta" program that caused problems for all, or if it was my system that had some faults. Now I can look for the problem in the right place at least. Recently switched from ATI to nvidia, so I'm sure there are a lot of conflicts hidden somewhere. Maybe a clean wipe is the only way to go, although I've been holding that off because I'm waiting to build a new system from scratch. |

Actually, maybe driver cleaner was a good idea
Since I've used ATI for the past many years, I had no idea you had to run a driver cleaner, so I just did. I'm sure everything will work out better now, 'cause the cleaning utility found a lot of old crap. Thanks for pointing it out to me ![]() EDIT: By the way you just made me feel very noobish/foolish ![]() |
