Default More renown per mission = quicker advancement in ranks???

If I edit the number of renown I get after enterning a patrol grid and staying there for 24hrs to 5000 each will the ranks and medals be given to me "too quickly"??? I did that yesterday and after the first patrol in August, 1939 I got both: 1st and 2nd Class Iron Crosses... Is this right???

Cheers!

PS. I had no sunk ships and I use GWX 2.1

Thanks for that fellow Pole ;P
I found that info quite interesting BUT... it didn't answer my question
I know the default values but I want to know if altering them will have any effect on the speed of my advancement. I don't want to be made Admiral after 3 patrols, you know...

Thanks!

No, it isn't right.
Historically, the first iron cross will be won after 100'000 tons of shipping sunk... I believe, not sure, have to read again the excellent "Hitler's U-Boat War: The Hunters, 1939-1942" by Clay Blair.

Cheers

I have this book! And read it... Just as the Part Two - The Hunted

Great stuff, won't you agree? You read it as if it was an adventure book (although the blood, sweat and saltwater were real...)...

In SH3 it's possible to start a patrol, dock without even moving, and be bestowed with promotions and medals. Meh.

Increase the MedalScore values. Still won't be perfect, but you may find it better for your tastes.

I'm reading the first book and I am quite suprised at the amount of fiddling that went on with regards to what Doenitz says that Kaleuns sunk and what they actually sunk. This also meant that Iron crosses were given out quite freely, all of which made excellent propaganda for Germany.

So am I, BTW A highly interesting read indeed, one that really challenges some myths surrounding the U-boot war. And very well written, too, reads like a thriller from the go IMO!

Alas, seems that Vol II, "The Hunted" is out of print ATM Oh well, have to scour Amazon etc. and I'm sure I'll find a second-hand copy somewhere...

Thank you Steve I also saw some copies available at Amazon yesterday, so what I'm going to do next is a wee little price comparison - and then it's whipping-out-the-long-suffering-plastic-time again I reckon

S!
