Default hitting evading targets?

i tried looking for this but i just kept finding stuff about evading destroyers. im wondering if theres some sort of % of original speed as a rule of thumb to plug in for targeting ships running evasive maneuvers. like i knew the speed to be 14 knots but then they start evading...so they are either running at the same speed but their straight line movement is 'slower' or they are actually slower. but is there an approximation that works for people or do you just give up on them or just guess or what?

My experience with evasives is they nearly all reduce speed considerably in addition to snaking around. I find it best to keep tracking the target. They will usually start to follow a new baseline. Us your map to draw a line through their new baseline and time how long it takes them to go a known distance. They will give you their evasice speed withing a knot or two. A fast task force will usually not snake but just use a new course and speed. Regardless, the speed each will use can vary widely, so it's best to track and time them.

CCRuner - the best advice I can give to hitting an evading target is GET CLOSE! 500 yrds is ideal. High speed torp just has time to arm, aim forward of the MOT slightly and fire. The target will not have time to get out of the way. Even if you have to go high speed to get to a firing position, its worth it. First your getting in your hits, and second you can use the momentum to duck UNDER the target - keeping that charging escort from running over you and dropping his charges.

well id saved right before i engaged this task force and i kept missing back on them and im all the way back up to their original 14 knots despite their weaving back and forth. they did change directions which puts them behind me unless i swing around. thing is twice now ive gotten 4 hits but 3 duds each time. im between 800-900 meters too. argh

well i jsut did it again and accidently was at about 500 meters this time and all of them hit and exploded. thing is...the first one to hit killed it..it being a king george. so hit it under the superstructure at 5 meters deep i guess. if you want to risk it getting away anyway?

two more duds just now from exactly 900 meters....annoying
