When to end patrol?

I am close to going for my 2nd refit in early 1942. How many more refits before ending my patrol? I have sunk 140K tons thanks to coming onto a convoy whereby I sank a fleet carrier and a plane tender that got in the way

. Before getting the **** out of there!Yes, I am playing on easy lvl but use manual targetting. I employ the deck gun against lonely merchants, and used numerous tutorials to save fish and frustration. That isn't cheating, just being smart.
