Recently, there's a mysterious something that occasionally pops up and takes 50% of CPU.
Process Explorer identifies it first as "agent.exe", apparently some kind of of Update Service for Installshield. Well, I don't care about Updates, no update program should be hogging 50% of my computer. I force it to close. I still feel drag on my computer. A few minutes later, I run Process Explorer again. Now, explorer.exe (the shell) is taking up 50%. At that point, I have to restart and get my computer back. The 3rd time this happened, I threw agent.exe and everything in its folder into a Zip file, deleted the folder, and cleaned off the Registry headers linking to it w/ CC cleaner. Now Explorer, not IE, Explorer the shell, starts taking 50%. What is happening. I'm running a virus scan now while I'm at work, but any other candidates? |
