Default Hope this is not a dumb question....

Just curious,if one was in the area on D-Day,would u see the invasion? And if so,is there anything there worth sinking or is it a total suicide mission

If you have some of the mega mods then you will see most major wartime operations in the European and even Pacific theatres rendered with their sea going elements. D-Day is of course part of this. There's tons to sink, I mean tons of troops are going over the sea remember, but if you can survive... thats another question....

In GWX you will see elements of the invasion in terms of the support ships and the escorts. For practical reasons it is impossible to script so many ships into a very small space as this will cause your game to run really slow and the untis will go crazy.

It says in the GWX manual that 18 U-Boats were lost with little to show for it.

Maybe best to stay away

just for squirts and giggles i attempted to inderdict the D-Day landings. arrived in the shallows at about 3:00 am and waited... about a thousand sound contacts began arriving.

Battleships, LSTs, destroyers, heavy cruisers, troop ships, EVERYTHING the allies had was there. I sank 2 troop ships and a Heavy cruiser and I had no hope of escaping the 15 some odd destroyers that responded to my attack with lethal, pinpoint accurate force.

Your submerged so you're too slow to run away.

Its shallow so you cant go deep.

and if you surface to make an escape there is land on one side of you and an the largest battle armada in the history of earth on the other side of you. - if you surface to escape i cant even begin to imaging the number of 16" and 5" shells that would decimate you within the first 5 seconds. - if your sub isnt destroyed by the massive gunfire, the game will probably crash to desktop anyhow because of the crippling performance hit of the thousands of shells being fired at you simultaneously.

If you think you can watch the D-Day landings from afar with the external cam, its kinda cool... but whatever you do... DONT GO OVER THERE LOOKING FOR TROUBLE BECAUSE...

TROUBLE IS ALL YOU WILL FIND!! :rotfl:
