Default Got it today! First thoughts.

Well when the mail came I threw it in the ol' dvd drive and fired it up. And it ran on my geforce 2 gts 64 meg! Okay start mission.....Why is everybody wearing pink and purple uniforms? Oh lord some men are just floating heads! Is this a ghost ship? Outside veiw beautifull except that there is no water just floating in space ships and sub. So I sank a few ships and watched them sink to the bottom from my bridge veiw as there is no water to get in your way. LOL star trek with u-boats. Okay time to upgrade the ol' graphics card. Any body have any budget card recomendations?

Here are some ways to improve your gameplay and graphics.

Download GWX2.0 from here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=102096

Also get this to improve your water and sky textures. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=131035

Of course its up to you, you can check out the mods section and find stuff that suites you.

GWX itself is fantastic, its 500% better than just playing the vanilla SH3.

GeForce 7800 or 7900 cards are excellent, that's the card I first had when playing SH3. Now I have a GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit. If you have a GeForce 2, I'm betting your CPU and RAM are old and lacking. Check your PM.

You might also try the other supermods, like WAC, NYGM and LSH3. All of them are far better than playing stock game but also there are some strenghts and weaknesses in each supermod. It's a question of what suits you best to have fun playing this great game.

I have a 7900 GS and it runs SH III and SH IV quite well. Shouldn't be too expensive if you can get your hands on one.

If you still have a motherboard with an AGP graphics slot, I would strongly advise you to save up for a new one with a PCI-express graphics slot.

Maybe you might want to take a look at your RAM; at least one gig is advisable....and more is better!

Wow GeForce 2, i remember those... Youll need at least a dx8 card to run sh3 properly, better off looking for a high end dx9 card though, theyll be cheap now since dx10 is now the standard.
++ check your motherboard slots... you probably havent got PCIe if its an older `puter so try to look for AGP cards only.

Make sure you memory is at least 1GB for stock and 2GB for any of the super mods. I got by with a Gforce fx5200 card of a while and went to a Gforce 6200 (my computer has a low profile AGP slot, so card choice is limited!). Make sue your processor is fast enough and you can get as much memory as possible.

You then should be able to play without to many troubles!

My last setup was a 2.4GHz AMD, with 2gig Ram and a Geforce 7600. Had no problems running SH4 with GWX 1.4. Try and get more RAM, and upgrade your graphics card.

If as I suspect you have an AGP motherboard....the Nvidia 7800 will be the best graphics card your system will accept.
The game (GWX included) will run fine with that......and 2GB of memory is adviseable
