Help needed - timed ctd
Hi all!
First of all I am sorry if this is the wrong place for this topic or if this problem has already been solved (tried the search function with no luck - maybe just too stupid... ![]() I have encountered a very weird kind of bug, first in my running career (but also in a single mission I created for testing purposes): Everytime I reach ingame the 8th may 1943 I have a ctd as soon as the clock reaches 7:00 p.m. (except once when it crashed at 7:01 p.m., maybe because due to time comp). The problems occurs no matter in which boat I am in, where my boat is, what I am doing or which time comp I use ... I also deactivated all mods and changed realism settings with no luck - so if anyone knows what may cause this problem and how to solve it, please share your knowledge!!! Thanks! Props |

Try a clean 1.4 install and see if you can recreate this. No mods or anything. Sounds like something in a data file has become corrupt. If it works clean, then make sure you have the latest version of each mod. Apply em one at a time and test - see if one initiates the problem at that point.
I know you said you removed all the mods - but trust me - often things get... convoluted - so in wierdness like this - a clean install for a test is the best start.

I seem to recall a discussion about a mod that has a problem with a date and when it was discovered, an update was issued. Can't remember the details.

I believe there was an issue with one of the radio mods that caused this at a certain date.

@CaptainHaplo
Does this happen even if you install/activate all mods via JSGME? I only used JSGME for the mods and never encountered any warning that one file was already altered by another mod (if so I decided not to use one of the mods). @Powethighs Thanks for the tip, but with my actual install I never used any radio mods, so this might be something to exclude (unless of course there are some changes or additions to radio files in the NSM mod, which is the only "bigger" mod I am using with the actual install...). @PV If you can remember any more details please let me know, like as I said at this moment I wasn't able to find anything by searching the forums (maybe too few or wrong keywords???). One general thought: Is it possible to change the actual date of one of your savegames? I tested different settings (in single mission) and had no problems if I started at 8th may 1943 7:10 p.m. game time. So it might be enough if I could change the actual time in my last savegame from 6:50 p.m. to let me say 7:10 p.m. - at least I could finish my actual patrol and hope that this is the only problematic time gap which causes a ctd. Again thanks for your replies! Props |
