Default Wake Island Video

For anyone that is interested, while researching Japanese Air Cover and Squadron locations in WWII, to tidy up some base dates in SH4, I found this footage...

http://video.aol.com/video-detail/ww...657/4042962546

I only watched the first 2 minutes, it is 1.5 hours of actual footage (What I saw was in colour, though no sound). The first few minutes show American personel (wounded) loading into a landing craft before departing the island. From the blurb attached, it's from various places on the island and is also supposed to include footage of the conflict to take the island.

For some reason it also shows bren carriers... must be located elswhere? then there is footage of Aerial attacks on the island, maybe some propoganda footage included. But some great aerial footage of how the island looked and was laid out.. also includes aircraft staffe attacks on huts and buildings.

Also, for those that have noticed annoying aircraft flying out of Rabaul in SH4 at a late date in the war, I managed to get a more accurate time for the aircrafts removal, thus, you won't be bombed in late 45 ^^ The last operational aircraft were removed on Feb the 14th '44.

Interesting stuff. I enjoyed the brief clip of the impromptu jazz band near the beginning.
There's quite a bit of aircraft gun footage of A/G and A/A action. The truck and train hits are compelling. The middle is a long section of what appears to be a complete air survey of infrastructure damage from war action. Wake? Hard to tell. The same areas shown many times from different angles and flight paths. Some of the more human interest stuff is at the end showing what appears to be occupied mainland Japan and people living in shanty and dirt houses in the city. Cival workers putting infrastructure back together. US military and their Japanese girlfriends.
