Default Blue light?

So I was watching Das Boot again recently and I noticed that they lit a blue light in the torpedo room as they prepared to fire. My question is; what's the benefit of doing that? I know red light helps prepare watch teams eyes and causes pupil dilation so their eyes can see better in the dark without needing the time to get used to the darkness.

But what about the blue light?

Someone will know this, as I'm just guessing.
I thought it was the battlestations light or silent running light?
maybe it was just for movie atmosphere?

Blue light is easier to see in than red light and also produces less glare than white light does.

It might also be a warning light in the sense of "Blue light on, be prepared for attack". Kind of battlestations signal.

I've always believed it meant the boat was in 'silent running' mode. :hmm:

Blue light=Silent running makes sense, though loading torps while rigged to go silent doesn't. So maybe we may discard that option???:hmm:

On the contrary.........it was not always unimaginable that extra care would be taken to make as little noise as possible whilst at the same time loading a torpedo.
