Default Take a tour of a Diesel Powered Sub

Before I model a 3D subject I take the time to do some research on the subject. So, after playing SH4 I decided that a sub might be worth a try. During my search I found this site: http://www.usscod.org/tour.html. It takes you on a tour of the different parts of a sub.

Come visit us this summer, and you'll see everything with your own eyes in close-up...

And, if you need more detailed info about certain parts, don't hesitate to contact me.

Success!!!

And give me a buzz when you're ready to 'publish'. I'm curious how she will look in 3D.

groetjes,

You know, Gino, that's not a bad idea. In fact I'm planning to visit the US this year. I'd be great to see a real life sub. I'll post up the work when completed, however I'm in search for a 3-way view drawing of the boat. I need this to accurately have the model scaled. I want the model look as realistic as possible.

I forgot this site:http://www.valoratsea.com/patrols1.htm.

You may find more good drawings on the HNSA website:

The Fleettype submarine with excellent drawings of the layout of the subs:
http://www.hnsa.org/doc/fleetsub/index.htm

And drawings of the USS Sandlance:
http://www.hnsa.org/doc/pdf/ss381.pdf

As for visiting the US. Cleveland isn't exactly on the top list of tourist visit plans.
Other than the Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame and some excellent musea there is n't that much to see. Unless you're a real subnut, then you definitely want to see the Cod, because she's the only unaltered WW2 Gato class submarine in existence. Therefore, she is a Historic Landmark.

groetjes,

Gino

PS. PM me and I'll send you my e-mail address if you need more info.

groetjes,
