Speed cameras

Well this is a new spin.

Quote:
Speed cameras to trap reckless skiers coming to Switzerland

Skiers who go too fast may soon be caught by speed cameras on the Alpine slopes.

Switzerland is to introduce the hand-held radar devices in a move aimed at reducing accidents on its pistes.
The limit will be set at 30kph, a little under 19 mph.

Stupid. SOmeimes going fast while skiing is fun. Might as well issue helmets and kneepads too since their isn't any fun left in skiing.

Thats certinaly a good idea on some "family" ski slopes.

At 40mph a skier can not avoid a child crossing the slope, I have seen so many
accidents like that.

But will we then have discussions on high-speed ski chases? Should the cop chase the perp or have other cops close in at the bottom?

Agreed, as long as they keep it to training slopes and whatnot. I'd be mightily pissed off being pulled over. I'm a responsible skier, but I also ski fast.

They already pull people over on some valleys at the bottom of the lifts if they are
being reckless.
