Killer Kilo scenario

Hey all,

I've been playing DW for a little while now and have been playing naval sims for a while. I love playing as the Kilo as it is probably the least powerful platform and so requires the most tactical playing. I've downloaded a few scenarios from SubGuru and am currently stuck on Killer Kilo.

I've found I can always sink at least two ships every time I play, but I'd like to be able to do slightly more accurate damage, that is I'd like to be able to sink at least two Yutings and mayble the oiler. There are basically two strategies I've used in this scenario. One is to avoid detection (i.e. stay out of pinging range) and fire a spread into the formation. If I'm ahead of them when I fire, I usually fire USET-80s and if behind I fire 35-65Ks.

The other strategy is to sprint and get very close to the formation's projected path, then sit on the bottom or in the shadow below the layer until the Yutings are at about 5-7000 meters. This usually assures hits on the Yutings and oiler, but almost always means that torps are fired at me. With the range and the Kilo's rather slow flank speed, this almost always means I get killed. Though if I'm behind the formation, I tend to have a slightly better chance of survival.

So if any of you vets have played this scenario, I'd love to hear what your strategies are and if you've had any better success than I have.
