Default Antialiasing with 169.21 Nvidia drivers

It seems like no matter what settings I use in the Nvidia control panel I cannot get antialiasing to work in the game, with the new 169.21 drivers. I have a custom profile set up for SH4 and have tried everything from 2x to SLI32x, yet the ugly jagged edges remain. Anyone else experience this? If not, what card settings are you using?

Luke, i had the same problem, but it works if you set the AA, etc, etc in the general setting, but not in the program settings. This will of course make the setting count for all your games, which is annoying.

(I have rolled back to the previous anyway, since this new driver freezes my computer in rfactor)

I just finished one patrol with the new graphic drivers and after reading this thread, then reloading a mission I realized that my AA isnt working either. I have it forced on for the SH4 exe.

I haven't tried; forcing it on globally yet or deleting the SH4 profile and making a new one in the nVidia Control panel. I do know that it's using the prior profile. The settings were still there after the new driver install. (I even used driver cleaner for good measure)

4X Antialiasing in mode: Override
8X Anisotrop.
Texture filtering - High quality.

Lotsa diff between graphic cards between mine and yours guys as mine is the top card for my Motherboard which will handle just up to AGP. Not as good as yours but it will have to do for now.
It's the Nvidia GeForce 7800 GS OC 256mb AGP 8X and I have it set as:

Card was mfg. by BFG and I was told by BFG to use the Nvidia 84.21 drivers as they were the most stable for this particular card. Well they were right as I've tried almost all of the Nvidia drivers including 163.75 and all but these 84.21 drivers failed to produce good results for SH4 ( also SH3 ). My point is even so every one says ( except maybe your card mfg ) try the newest drivers, ask your card mfg. what is the best drivers for your card, you may be surprised of their answer.

Few shots here of 1.4 and the settings above. I did not have the FRS ( ctrl+F8 ) on but believe me the pics are no less than 40 fps and they never get higher than 90 fps except F3 Nav Map as they will get to 180-200 fps until a lot of traffic builds then no less than 65 fps. So it's not a bad card and the 4X forced setting of the card itself does work pretty good.

Remember "Only your hairdresser knows"........................er card mfg.

Luke,

If I recall correctly from rumors I heard, ...

If you set it by the nVidia card, you don't need to set it via the game controls. And vise versa.

I have mine set in the card control and not in the game and I'm currently running ROW mods with hi-res sea foam and no problems here.

I have a pair of 7600 GS w/256 each in SLI.

Well, the issue is that the game doesn't have its own adjustable AA settings, so the only way to ajdust them is through the Nvidia control panel. Like I've said above, I've tried everything from 32x SLI to 2x with nothing to show for it.

Running the 169.28 beta drivers now and the AF/AA issue seems to be fixed. They've not yet been posted on the nVidia site, so if anyone ios interested, you'll have to go looking elsewhere. 3dGuru has them here...

No probs with my 8500GT and the new driver at all. Have it on 8xAA and 4xAF and everything looks dandy.

ClayP

With your AF and AA set to 16x, does the sun look like a disk as in this shot.... (apologies to AVGWarhawk for hijacking his screenies )

Or like this one below....

Also, the global setting is just that. I prefer not to force a certain level of AF/AA if I can help it. Most games I play have internal controls for adjusting this, and some require more than SH4 and some less.
