Have loaded GWX 2.0 without a bit of trouble. The directions are clear to "delete" old careers from the My Documents file before loading GWX 2.0. I found that if one just renames the existing old SH3 file in My documents\ (say, "PreV2_SH3") and goes ahead and installs V2.0 with or without SH3 Cdr, there is a way to add back old careers - and they open and run without a problem.
Before installing GWX2.0 rename the existing SH3 file in My Documents something else. Clean out everything re: SH3 Cdr as directed. Install GWX2.0 as directed. It will create a new SH3 file in My Documents. Open My Documents\"PreV2_SH3"\data\cfg\Careers\ Select a Captain's name and copy it, ie, Ctrl+C. Open the new SH3 and drill down to My Documents\..\..\Careers\. Paste the Captain's file into Careers, ie, Ctrl+V. Do a clean install of SH3 Cdr if you desire. When GWX2.0 opens either from the icon or with SH3 Cdr the old career will appear - patrols, medals, tonnage, Aces position, and another patrol can be made keeping the previous experiences. The next time SH3 Cdr runs you can create a personnel file for everybody all over within GWX 2.0. Now, the GWX Team may take me to task - but so far I've had no problem doing this. As for the Team - a quite fine piece of work guys. We owe a great deal to you. |
