Default A Little Help Here ?

Hi guys, I know its not directly sh3 but

I was installing one of my favourite older games
"Freelancer" and in doing so I booted up a mod without backing
up a necessary exe. file.

Im using XP home

the problem is I can uninstall the mod
and did uninstall the game but the leftover
(and incorrect) exe file believes its in use
by another program I am not able to delete
it rename it or move it and I am not able to
install over it. further the file isnt read only
according to windows and changing it to
and from read only has no effect

does anyone have any suggestions as to how
I can dump it.

M

Try rebooting the comp
If that fails reboot in safe mode and delete it

if that fails create a 'DOS' bootup disk with Windows Explorer (insert floppy drive-->right click on A-->select format and check the create bootable disk.
Note the directory path to the file in question and then reboot using the floppy drive. Once at the 'DOS' prompt type 'c:' then press enter. next type 'CD xxx' where xxx is the path to the file. Say in windows it was '\program files\ubisoft\tester.exe' then you would type 'cd \program files\ubisoft'. Then type 'del tester.exe' and it will ask you to confirm this. File deleted.

Yeah windows has a habit of grabbing a file and keeping it
Rebooting cures that

There is also a proper cure\update
I did have it ages ago

Will have to hunt it down :hmm:
