Default GWX2.0 1st Impressions

I would just like to say wow.
I have just left Kiel in 1939 October to be exact and just wow, from the harbour traffic to the dry docks very very nice. The sea plane that buzzes you was a little unnerving but my last career was in 1944 so I was a little jumpy to plane sound

Well done team

Just quick ? to enable the auto nav plot for the Kiel canal where does one need to be to enable as I get a pattern that would put me on land(yes I am clicking on the kiel out icon)

Thanks to all who have worked on this

Vader

In GWX 1.03, you set the "leaving Kiel by Canal" course while you were stationary at the dock. I'd assume it would be the same for GWX 2.0 but I haven't begun a mission yet.

From the Manual.

To “use a canal pilot” if you are starting a mission at Kiel:
1. Dock your U-boat in its starting dock location or plot a course to that exact location.
2. Select the Navigator, then the “Kiel Canal OUT” Search Pattern, and follow the selected course.

Please be more explicit...set it...how or where?

Select the Navigator icon and then select the Kiel Out search pattern. It is one of three patterns that pops up. The other two are Kiel In and the final one is a real search pattern. The stock game had 3 real search patterns but to make a course for the canal, they used 2 of original buttons.

Exactly where do you have to be to start the inbound path?

Well I have to say starting a new carrier with all that eye candy in keil wow. Totally cool. Buzzing aircraft, seeing mobile ship docks working. Graf zeppelin docked. soo much to see soo much details.
Going back now. Don't know when I'll see subsim for the next few days. Later all GWX 2.0 is in the house!

The question is...coming BACK from out in the open Sea...where must you be to select an "automatic" set of waypoints back up thru the Kiel Canal ...back to Kiel?

For the outbound course (leaving Kiel), you must be in the dock when you plot the course. Do it before you even start the engines.

For the inbound course (returning to Keil), you must navigate to a little point marked on the map.

I forget the name of the point, because it's been a while since I was based in Keil. However, it's fairly obvious; it's right there at the western entrance to the Keil canal, at the spot where the canal widens and joins some estuary. The estuary or bay is part of the North Sea.

Mein Gott! I think I know the exact spot you mean....zoomed in...it says something like "entrance" to the keil Canal...and its just a black dot?

So...I should be facing into the canal...at that point...and again...selecting the navigator...the choice will be there for an automatic set of waypoints back to Keil?

Nice to see that you are enjoying it Vader1. Just wait until you see some of the cool stuff the team has put together for later in the war!

Don't forget to visit Hamburg on your way out of the Kiel canal!
