Anybody use 'shoot' voice command for SH3?

If so would you pls be kind enough to host the shoot's SH3 XML profile file so that I and other people may use it?

And don't forget to mention which version of shoot is compatible with the XML file.

Downloading the editor requires registration and creating the file requires not a small amount of time.

I have uploaded my ver 4.1 profile.
The zip file name was truncated by filefront so it reads Castout_SH3ShootProfile_v1.zip instead of v41. Read the readme file just to make sure.

PS: my files are compatible with OLC GUI mod ver 1.1.4 at least as the Commands_en.cfg file are modded directly from OLC's GUI mod ver 1.1.4.
I use stock 1.4b but one GWX 2.0 user claimed it's okay to use my files with GWX 2.0.

Well I know SH3 is mostly a point and click game but some of the commands do assigned to certain keys. So it would be quite fun to command just like the RL kaleuns did with your voice.

I use shoot exclusively, never play without it.

I am not even sure how to adjust my speed manually anymore - I think it's the number keys, but for years now I have been saying

"All ahead one third" "All Stop"

You can do some really creative stuff with the profile files -

For instance - When I say "I'm going to bed" it takes me to the Kpt's Bed and puts time compression on max (32 for me).

I also like "Play a Record" "Dive the Boat" "Open Tube 1" is a good one too.

I would be happy to email anybody my profile - but I have edited it significantly for my personal use - but if you PM me your email address I will send.

Again, I wouldn't play without it. Although I can't tell you how many times my wife has scolded me about it.

About a year ago she snuck up behind me in my office - lights out, scrawling out firing solutions with a red lense flashlight - and I shouted "Dive! Dive! Dive!" (emergency dive).

She said "you really need to take a hard look at yourself and reevaluate your behavior".

Not bad advice. Of course, that was a year ago - still working on the reevaluation.

Does anyone have a profile they would be willing to share?

I've just downloaded 1.6.4 along with the profile editor. It all looks good and the editor comes with good readme's; only problem is, Shoot itself had no documentation bundled in the download and I can't find any on the site.

So if someone's got a profile they could let me have and tweak myself that would be great. Meanwhile I'll trawl the web for some help.

I dig up old topics at subsim and at the official ubi forum and found a guy name Krycek1972 made(posted) an SH3 profile for shoot.

I upload the file to filefront so you guys don't need to copy and paste it, here it is,

Oh make sure you use shoot 1.6.3 because it won't work with shoot 1.6.4. Don't ask me why because I don't know.

put the file(SH3.xml) to the profiles folder of your 1.6.3 shoot. Load your shoot and open the that SH3.xml profile.
Now leave shoot opened and play your SH3 game. Your SH3 crews now listen to your voice command. Press the CapsLock button to toggle whether you want to activate your voice command. By default it is turned off so you need to press the CapsLock at least once to activate it.

If it doesn't work well set in the XP speech control panel to have US profile instead the default 5.1 engine. And train your US profile.

Nerrazurri just to make sure I just changed the file to my modified profile. You may need to download it again.


Note that there's one phrases which I doubt will work:

'Diiiiive' (for crash dive)->edit: This works fine. Now we all can yell: DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE just like in Das Boot :rotfl:beware that thee may wake up thy neigbors or be thought to have lost it.

I don't know whether MS speech would be able to recognize that. If not you may delete that redundant command, the other being 'crash dive'

For those of you who want to make more comprehensive voice command download Setkey1_11 in the download section of subsim. You can add customize commands to your shoot profile. If anyone make a great profile pls do share it with us.

@Castout thanks very much for your help my friend.

I got version 1.6.3 from the net OK and added the profile you found and uploaded for me/us. Just had a little trial with it there and it seems to be working fine.

I'm using the MS speech recognition that's included with Office 2003 (tip - it wasn't installed but it's there. Control panel>speech= if there's not a speech tab there word>tools>speech to install. Then do the mandatory training, 5 minutes, and I also did another excercise, 10 minutes). I just tried a few commands and it seems to be OK at the moment.

I'll keep trying it for a day or two, see if it needs more training or if I run into any other problems. I'll probably tweak the profile for myself too. If everything goes OK I'll upload the profile in both 1.6.3 and 1.6.4 formats in case anybody has software issues with either one.

There's a mistake on toggling the snorkel command. The phrase should be 'toggle snorkel'. The current one is 'raise snorkel'

My part was very small all credits go to Krycek1972.

I'm working on a more comprehensive profile file. Right now I'm downloading textpad. It's a pain to edit something without it. I need line numbers to debug.

In the Krycek profile I've tested all the inputs and they're OK apart from Torpedo Fire and All Stop.

And it doesn't matter what words I change the input voice command to, they still won't work! LOL

Hmm Ive made a more comprehensive SH3's shoot profile with SetKey1_11.

Now the previous unassigned commands can be voice activated:

For example: "Report nearest visual contact" or "report nearest visual", "Report nearest warship sound contact" or "report nearest warship contact" or "report nearest warship sound", "follow nearest sound", "Radar sweep once", "Continuous radar sweep" or "Turn on radar", "man the deck gun", etc

I'm sorry if I confused some of you guys with rapid succession of my file.

here's a much more comprehensive shoot profile file for SH3.
I haven't touched the weapon officer command because I always use manual TDC with OLC GUI mod. Feel free to modify it as you see fit or even distribute my file or your modified file. Just make sure to give credits (yes give credits to those I give credits too)

So much more voice commands for you.
Besides that I'd like also to give thanks to Nerazzurri for pointing out 'bugs' from Krycek original text. I have fixed those two bug whereby the 'All stop' and "Torpedo LOS' voice command failed to be recognised no matter what.

before somebody cry bug know that "close torpedo tube" command would not trigger any sound file so you wouldn't know whether it has closed. But it works if you have 3D view enabled you can check it out. Kind of silly not to hear the crew response. But it is how it is with SH3.
