Sub Diesel engine sounds help

well I have been messing about with .wav files trying to get my engine to sound different then the normal chatter it puts out all of the time. I have been trying to replace
Submarine_diesel_underwater.wav
Submarine_diesel_exterior.wav
in the data\sound\ folder
I recorded/mixed new mono sounds at same bitrate as the original file and tried to make it about the same length as the orginal .wav's (I don't think I got the length right on, and this might have something to do with it)
But when I replace the old files I get no engine noise at all.
Anybody have any clue as to what I am doing wrong? anyone have success doing this kind of thing before?

WOOHOO

Ok I figured it out I think it was the format of the sound files, (or maybe the time length, because I tightend that up too)
Anyways here it is in all of it's splendifferous (working) glory: (The first mod I've ever released)
http://files.filefront.com/ChuggingD.../fileinfo.html

kinda reminds me of chitty-chitty-bang bang..
JSGME ready
have fun people!!

I made a tiger shark skin for the IXC as well, but I won't release that for awhile until I get permissions from the guy whom I based the work on. Heres a teaser screenie:

Peace all
Have fun!

Thanks Vader! Glad you like!
What do you think of the realism? Is it believable? I was thinking about giving it a bit more volume, but it is already up pretty high and I am afraid of blaring distortion..

I think I did pretty well though, it no longer sounds like I have hamsters running in their wheels with playing cards clothespinned to their backs everytime I call for flank speed.
Beginners luck eh?

Thanks Wildchild, that would be awesome!
heh- all the distortion comes from all the loud bass from the power plant generator (used it more underwater)
I could give you the original recordings if you'd like...

Attention VERSION 1.1 released!

Thanks tons for your help wildchild

Thanks in part to you I am releasing :
ChuggingDiesel ver. 1.1 "The smoother chug"
http://files.filefront.com/ChuggingD.../fileinfo.html

Again, JSGME.exe friendly.

I dunno which one I am more proud of I think this one is a bit more realistic, but the first one is still fun.

Go ahead and try em both out, and give me your opinion please?

Looks like a great job done. Will give it a try. Downloading.

Whoa my sub ROARS much more than a tank does.
I'll give it a try in game.

I hope it works great. My neighbors would feel the tremor whenever I play SH3 at night now. Muahahahahahahahahaha

Third time's a charm.

Thanks guys for the complements! I am glad people are enjoying the mod.

Ok guys I have just got done scrutinizing and reworking this mod because halfway through my Virgin Hot-Sub-Rod voyage I noticed that there was an annoying re-curring pop every 4.45 seconds (the length of the file) when I got close to the sub underwater...It was not looping correctly .
So back to the drawing board on that one...I re-did everything, some at a higher sample rate (44100kHz, instead of 22050kHz regular) for the underwater engine sound and got a sample that looped flawlessly, had more depth, and sounds great!
So now I give you my 3rd and final installment of
Chugging Diesel Sub Engine sound pack Version 1.2 FINAL:
http://files.filefront.com/ChuggingD.../fileinfo.html

Enjoy!:rotfl:

Any chance to make the file last longer now the pattern is a bit too obvious for my ear(the exterior growling). Thanks sounds wonderful.

My sub growls in the right kind of way now. Be downloading your third(and final?) installment.
