Default Home Shooting

http://www.bakersfield.com/hourly_ne...ry/279854.html

Steven Troy Stewart started sleeping with a shotgun after someone fired through a window into his living room last month.

He defended himself with that gun Monday evening, shooting at a man who broke through his front window carrying a gun and a gasoline bomb.
That man, Ulises Espino, later died, and three other men have been arrested in a plot to break into Stewart's Rosedale area home and burn it down, Sheriff's Sgt. Ed Komin said.
Stewart said he doesn't know the men or have any idea why he was targeted. Detectives don't know why either.
Alberto Torres, 18, Cesar Montoya, 23, and Jesus Delgado Estrada, 29, were arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, attempted arson and conspiracy, according to Komin. Torres also was arrested on suspicion of participating in a criminal street gang.
Torres declined an interview request from The Californian, but told KGET-TV 17 in a jailhouse interview that he and the other men went to Stewart's house intending to kill him. He said he didn't know why.
Each man was arrested on suspicion of murder because Espino died during a felony the men were attempting to commit.
Espino and Torres drove in one vehicle and Montoya and Estrada drove in another to Stewart's house in the 15000 block of Westdale Avenue, Komin said. Montoya and Estrada, who pointed out the house to the other two men, are brothers, and Espino was their cousin, according to detectives.
Stewart said he heard glass breaking Monday as he lie in bed and he grabbed his shotgun. He walked toward the front of the house and saw a man carrying a gun and a gas can with a fuse on it.
Stewart fired several rounds. Espino was wounded and drove away with Torres while Montoya and Estrada drove off in the other vehicle, deputies said.
The two vehicles later stopped in the area and the men called for medical help, Komin said. Espino died early Tuesday morning at Kern Medical Center and Torres was arrested.
Detectives and deputies from the sheriff's Special Operations Group served a search warrant at Estrada and Montoya's residence at 1825 3rd St., Apt. C on Tuesday and arrested the men. A large amount of money and two guns were seized, one of which was reported stolen in 2006, according to the news release.
Komin has said Espino was in possession of flammable liquid while breaking into Stewart's house and it appears the men intended to burn the house down. He said it appears the shooting was justified.
Opal Stewart, Steven's mother, said her son wouldn't hurt anyone unless he had to defend himself. She also said he doesn't scare easily.
"My son is one of the least fearful men you will ever know," she said.
Stewart stopped to talk while returning to his house Wednesday afternoon carrying a small duffel bag and a shotgun. He said someone shot through one of the windows in his house Oct. 7 and the round barely missed his head. Komin confirmed that someone did shoot at Stewart's house about a month ago.
Stewart has kept his shotgun close ever since.

another reason to be a supporter of the 2nd Ammendment, only if that was in Canada...

What would you do if someone broke into your house with a gun and a makeshift bomb?
It happened to one Bakersfield man who said he was the target of a murder plot.
In an exclusive interview, he told 17's Melissa Knievel he had to kill or be killed and how it wasn't the first time someone has taken aim at him.

You got to do what you got to do to protect yourself and your family. I will never turn over my weapons. I should get some more actually... How about a Colt 45? What collection is complete without one?

I'd stop doing whatever it was I was doing that prompted such an attempted attack. In other words, that situation seems a bit suspect to me; why would someone randomly attempt to firebomb you for no reason, not to mention shoot at you a month beforehand too (assuming it was the same people)?

cant beat a M1911A1!!!

.45ACP best round you can get

seriously though, to people in the USA, arm yourselves before its too late
(too late= someones busts into your house with the intent to steal, kill, rape etc..)

ARM yourselves!!!!!!!!!!

I live in canada but im buying a M1 garand (.30-06) and a M1911A1 (.45ACP),and a Mossberg 12 gauge pump action shotgun (00 Buckshot)

m1 garand for hunting and marksmanship training and the .45 for CQB marksmanship training and for home defence, 12 gauge is primarily for home defence..

Actually, I'm a bachelor. Never did want marriage or any of that, so I live alone.

BUT stealing my computer and taking off all my stuff (and whatever ELSE may be on it ) is going to piss me off pretty damn bad.

I wonder if he would have been attacked in the first place if it wasn't for America's
high murder rate and gun culture.

Well, there are "natives" in every country capable of that.

That's a pretty inflamatory title. You should change it. Also, for the record, I am growing very weary of your subtle racism. Get your ducks in a row.
