Just a thought but would be possible to make a mod so you could hear music and news on the radio? If anyone is interested in working on this let me know. It would add a greater feeling of emersion and realism. Also I have a piece of music that has a bit of news that has to do with the sinking of the Ark Royal.

This is only possible (and already done, by several modders in the past), using the built-in grammophone function of SH3.

The good news is that SH3 has a gramophone, which will randomise music tracks, while SH4 has a "programmable" radio where you can create radio stations, time news broadcasts etc. The bad news is that the basic SH4 radio is hard-coded and cannot be transferred to SH3. I spent months looking for a way of giving SH3 players what SH4 players have - without success.
From my point of view until and unless the devs decide to release the code for SH3, or decide to include a radio in SH3 the same as that in SH4 - Why the *&$£**$ should they? - it's old product - we're not ging to be able to have the kind of radio I believe you have in mind. If anyone does crack it, please please please let me know. I have contemporaneous radio content ready and waiting |

Thank you. I've never really got to grips with Date Files in SH Commander. Any detailed advice and guidance as to how they work - e.g. if I put a radio programme into a Date File, when ( during that specific day ) does it play? Do audio files in Date Files automatically point to the gramophone? etc - would be most welcome.

Sounds promising. Keep us updated if you feel the mod is workable.

Thank you,
So if one was to programme a section of audio as a single file - including News of the day and save it as a date file, it would be available for playing on that date only. Interesting. The only problem I have, if I read your reply correctly, is with having to use the gramophone "advance track" to find it. I should imagine that there are loads of players like me with hundreds of individual tracks already stored in their gramophone folders which are happily randomised by SH3 Commander. You'd never hear that day's specific radio broadcast except by chance, or through the exercise of monumental amounts of patience :hmm: I wonder if there's a way to ensure that a date audio file from SH3 Cdr is automatically at the top of the random playlist? Jaesen, if you see this - you wrote the randomising tracks program as part of SH3 Cdr. Normally tracks play in the order they appear in the gramophone folder - can you help, please? |
