Newbie - Mod Help

I'm in the middle of my 1st career and am very intersted in finding a good mod for an already good sim. GWX and NYGM are the biggest names floating around. What are they and how do they differ? Also, I know nothing about installing mods. I only know how to tweak files (like time compression, keyboard configuration, etc).

Lastly, do any of the mods improve the graphics? I have a GeForce 7600 GT and a 3.2ghz processor with 1.5 GB RAM; 1024 x 768 is killing me

Check out the stickies as far as information on the two. SH Commander is a great little app that allows you to modify some in-game settings, do a search for it. There should be a mod for the keyboard config., or a thread explaining this. The search button is your friend here

A post regarding GWX\NYGM: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...95&postcount=2

Both mods vastly improve gameplay and graphics, GWX a little bit more on the graphics than NYGM. SH3 Commander is an excellent addition as well, almost a must have, and works well with both mods. Using either mod and SH3 Commander will make Silent Hunter III seem like a whole new sim compared to stock patched to 1.4.

SH3 Commander lets you pick a more specific date to start a career and let's you adjust things like wave height and time compression in various situations.

Sweet, no more digging around blindly for files... I did manage to stumble upon the time compression file though...
