Default Do you ever go for a long time with no weather change?

What's the longest (approximately) you've ever gone during a patrol with no weather change? Days, weeks, more?

Before I got bad weather like rain and more but wind and wave changes happens every other day at least if not less since I made the changes to the scene file.

Id have to say weeks although sometimes with time compression your sense of time passing is ... uh... skewed.

Its better than SH3 was when it had crap weather for day after day after day.

From my experience weather duration varies widely. It can stay in any one state for hours to many days. I've had clear and calm and hard-raining storms for 8-10 days. I've not seen any indication there is a cap on how long a weather condition can remain static.

Also, it seems the more you stay in one spot or locality, the more likely you'll get a weather state that doesn't change for a long time. Weather appears to be localized to some extent making it possible to sail out of it. Be aware the more violent the wx, the more damage it does to your boat and crew so you should slow down and/or submerge.

I use the following guide:
0-6 m/sec winds = normal operations.
7-9 m/sec winds = 1/3 engines unless in combat. If I use deck awash (which slows the boat down by 3-5 knots depending on weather) I will use 2/3 speed on the lower end of the wind scale. I don't like to waste fuel, but deck awah rides the waves with a lot less rocking which can help sighting other ships.
10+ m/sec winds = Submerged unless in combat and surface at 1/3 engine just long enough to charge batt and go back down.

While there is nearly a direct relationship between wind speed and wave height, it takes a while to build up waves at the high end of the wind speeds. I've known 15 meter winds to create waves towering over the entire boat. I've also sailed for a couple days in 15 meter winds where the waves didn't reach the bridge. In those cases, I wasn't as strict in my application of my rules above. When the waves start crashing over the bridge, I go under to ride it out no matter what other conditions exist.

All my save games are 10 minutes prior to shift change while submerged to minimize the fatigue hit on the crew and recover faster from those hits.

Despite the readme for the game warning hurricanes will cause irrepairable damage to the sub, I've never seen winds in excess of 15 meters/second which is 54Km/hr or 33.5 miles per hour. This is no where near hurricane strength, but deffinately substantial weather for a small boat like a sub. I can't tell if 15 is the limit in the game, or the weather reporting feature cannot report over 15.
Thus, I think the water over the brige is a good indication you are in severe weather.
