Default recurring problem, not able to start a campaign after 1943

Ok I uninstalled and reinstalled because (I have GWX and SH3 Commander nothing else) of this and its still happening. I am trying to start a campaign in late 42 in the Black Sea (30th flotilla). After playing the game once it was fine but the second time I loaded all years past 1943 disappeared, the very same thing happend after the reinstall. I have installed SH3 pach 1.4b and GWX and the GWX 1.3 update patch. Whats causing this?

Do you mean that after your first successful patrol in the Black Sea, on the next reload of that career the war has ended?

Or, are you trying to create a second career? Are you setting this career up in SH3 or SH3Cmdr?

Also, even though I don't know the dates, the 30th gets moved from the Black Sea at some point. Could it be you are trying to start a career in that locale when it's not there anymore?

Really odd, never come across this before.

Ok well right now with commander, not only is the 30th not in the black sea in 1942 or 1943 (they are supposed to be there as of October 1st 1942 until some time in 44 when the whole theater is lost and all the boats are either sunk or scuttled). Right now it is IMPOSSIBLE to start a career AFTER 1943, 1944 and 1945 are BLANK, no Flotillas to pick at all. It is the same inside the game it does not allow you to move on after 1943. I am going to try to get another GWX patch and see if that works.

Follow these instructions and you should be good to go. Pay close attention to the file names required for GWX & SH3Cmdr. (Might be worth uninstalling Cmdr too)

Basic Install of GWX

1) Uninstall SH3 via Windows' "Add/Remove programs"
2) Open Windows Explorer and:
- *delete* the folder where you had installed SH3
- *delete* the \My Documents\SH3 folder
3) Reinstall SH3
4) If your SH3 did not come with patch v1.4b already included, install patch v1.4b. Ensure you install the patch that corresponds to your copy of SH3 (Download/DVD/EMEA/US)
5) OPTIONAL: Copy and paste this "clean" install as a backup to avoid the need to follow steps 1-3 if your game becomes corrupt in future
6) Visit the GWX Sticky (available by clicking on our sigs) and download into the SAME folder GWX.exe and the five .bin files. While there grab the v1.03 patch
7) Run GWX.exe and follow the installation prompts
8. Run GWX103.exe and follow the installation prompts
9) SH3 COMMANDER USERS: Visit the GWX Sticky and download the GWX 1.02+ Cfg files for SH3 Commander and unzip the contents DIRECTLY into your SH3 Commander\Cfg folder.

Good Luck.

I'm going to try all that stuff again, I just did another uninstall reinstall and it looks like this is some sort of problem with Commander. I started a carreer in the Black sea and started a mission just fine, when I loaded commander and treid to start one I only go to 1943 again. Should I redownload all the bin files for GWX (is there any place I can just get them as a single download??)

Edit: by the way I uninstalled commander too, and reinstalled it, did the very same thing.

Don't re-download GWX yet. Can you start careers in different year using just GWX (before SH3Cmdr)?

Also, what OS do you have? Please say it's something other than vista.

Do you have the proper cfg files for SH3Cmdr?
Have you installed them into the correct folder?

lol no its not vista, I made sure of that, this is a 2 month old computer running XP Home. I installed the .cfg files into the SH3 Commander Folder, I think what I MAY have been doing wrong is running the 1.03 Update for GWX, I would install GWX, run the 1.03 update, install commander and then overwrite the .cfg files with the new one from the download. you need to play SH3 and make a carreer before Commander will work, when I do that JUST with GWX I am able to play any year up to 45. Once I go to Commander is when I am stuck at 39-43 only. The other thing is, when I first load commander up it has all the right flotillas, the 30th is there, but there are no Uboats assigned to it? Just a side note too, any chance to get IIAs in the 30th at any point because the reason I am trying to play in the black sea is to follow the carreer of the type IIA that I used in 39.

Edit: Ok this time around I DID NOT run the GWX 1.03 update, so its just a new install of SH3, patched to 1.4b, GWX, SH3 Commander and then the config files, we'll see what happens.

Unless you are familiar with the files needed to 'hack' this, the easiest way is to transfer to the 30th in the Black Sea while having the IIA as your current boat. You always take the boat you are using with you when you transfer to any base.

well now without launching with commander it has done the same thing (all old SH3 files were deleted before this install) and it only lets me create a career up to 1943. It looks like I will need that 1.03 GWX patch as it is what changes the menu and so forth.

Well now I've gotten it to work some how but its always crashing to desktop. This is really disappointing, the other PC I have will run this game GREAT but, its not very pretty. Further more SH4 runs on this PC without a hitch. I guess I am going to be back to "enjoying" SH3 on a 1.6 ghz willamette P4
